Hi guys.
I had idea which I almost scratch away but I decided to post it anyway. What would you guys think about "NPC private pilot" they might come in handy, for instance: You are in deep null sec and you aren't really feeling to go all the way to hight sec many jumps away to pick up some item you left there or/and just bought from the market, as you mind your own business, doing whatever you do in daily life in EvE as it requires you to be stationary in a system or two you. You send out your own private pilot to fetch it for you. As most of us know that null sec can be dangerous place to be in and also such as traveling through system to system in low space. solution? You give your private pilot headings and what system he need to avoid, as many low/null as possible.
Now, there have to be downsides and/or risk too. The pilot has a cool down cause for he needs "resting" or he gets reckless and spends long time at the "bar" drinking to much of Quafe after each trip or certain after certain amounts of jumps maybe?
You might as well just want to to get your assets which is spread out through the galaxy in slow but in long term affective way.
I know other Capsule's can do such thing for us for money or as a favour, But when it can be difficult to find someone you trust for the job the CPP could become handy. The question is do we trust an npc pilot to fly for us items we would trust ourselves to do?
it is a risk.
I really don't know anything about computers so I have no idea if this is possible to do without increasing the lag or affect a server in bad way, but what I know is that we do already have NPC's put there already.
This might also fill up the the big gaps a little bit for players that have choose to have only one account. Team work is vial in EvE yes. But Capsule private pilot is certain such as black is black and white is white. Who knows.. maybe throw the private pilots's own small "skill tree"
Thanks for spending time reading, peace :) |

I look at it this way, with cool down.. you can't use the pilot much.. but in long term progress.. so you are actually forced to move out as well as how I see it. |

Wouldn't you prefer to do that trip by yourself or wait for your corpie to do it for you? Would you really trust NPC delivery guy to be able to avoid dangers of null and lowsec on the way? Have you ever meet Eve NPC? I am not my skills but... http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schmata_Bastanold |

thanks for the question, but when you as a pilot, can not go for some reason, including corp mates or friends can't do it for you. It might be nice to have someone who is always there and ready for you.. a Capsule private pilot douse not have to be the first choice obviously. And to answer the question.. no I can't ask any of my corpmates since we are just two and thats how we want the corp to be for a reason and is currently on vacation ^__^ |

no, if you want a module or item, either go get it yourself, use an alt, hire someone else or get a corp or alliancemate to do it for you. npc pilots for hire is a suggestion that has been put forward a dozen times and shot down just as many times. eve is a game about interacting with other human beings, do that instead. also, this thing would be abused to hell and back |

There are a number of player run services which would be more than happy to assist you doing just this. Player run things generate content, which is the lifeblood of the game. |

First of all OP, eve NPC's have pretty terrible AI, and I can tell you right now if the route you want to take your stuff through is difficult for a player to traverse, than there is no way in hell one of these NPC bot's would make it one piece.
Number two, and probably more importantly, stop being so damn lazy. |

I am very sorry, it seasm people aren't really reading... it is an idea and just discussion, it is nothing to do about laziness, please people read above before comment.
and give a good feedback, everything should have a reason.
I am just being part of the community and opening up a discussion, sorry if it has bin there already.
I am also sorry to see that people don't finger point the the issue with the idea instead being disrespectful. if this is the EvE community all about. I have no part of it anymore.
Have nice day everyone. |

Nope.
The entire point of the game is for the players to do their own work. It creates player interaction and meaningful choices. If u have an item thats way out in the middle of dangerous space, its too convenient to get a dumb NPC to go and fetch it for u like a dog for the same price they'd collect something one jump away in secure space. If u have to rely on urself or others players to go get it, the distance and the dangers involved in retrieving it factors into the decision on multiple levels.
This is generally why the current direction of things is to try and hand over as many NPC services over to the players as possible. EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY?No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided""So it will be up to a pilot to remain vigilant wherever they may be flying and be ready for anything at any time" |

Have nice day everyone. Well I did read, and you were very clear on the fact that you were lazy which is why you want this "don't really feel like going all the way to high-sec," were the words you used. I provided a great reason why this shouldn't be the case, and provided some constructive criticism for you, the OP, so you may better enjoy this community and what it's all about. If indeed you are leaving, then I too would like to pitch my hat in the circle for your stuff, and I'd be happy to pick it up myself, wherever it may be. |

And if you dont wanna use red frog, isnt this what a noobie freebie alt is for? Assuming you're just sending this hypothetical npc on an ammo run and not to go sell/buy your Estamel's modified underwear drawer? |
