Yer it is
Just keep hanging it out on a limb and the rush will never go away.
For instance me and a corpmate supafly almost took down two battlecruisers, a Cyclone and Ferox in a belt using only two t1 cruisers was all going fine until a Raven had to warp in and bombard us with Cruise Missles
............My arbitrator got the Ferox before I went down though....YARRR!!!

For me, the rush has never worn off, properly.
If the fight is not certain, there is always a rush. I engaged a Typhoon in my Scorp yesterday, that was a rush. I killed a Thorax in that same Scorp later. That wasn't much of a rush.
A good fight can still leave me shaking after more than two years.

Why pirate in game if they can pirate on the forums? I'm sure someone has at some point extorted a ransom by menacing forum post ___________________________________________

Dont underestimate making your name known in the game. Verone gets 8 pages in the next issue of EON for example. This doesnt happen to just some random speachless pirate out there that lets his guns do all the talking. Everybody from Veto posting in these forums is getting a personality attached to their name, and its not a bad thing.
There are too many people not posting anyway... in any given thread, its rare to see more than 10% of readers write something. Just post and have fun. The forums are a part of the game as I see it.

hmmm had a nice lil rush last week...
popping a zealot in my cerberus when i was in 5% structure...
But the rush(es) kind'a disappear every quickly when you snipe an ibis and you destroy 6 talisman implants...
On the whole its all good.

Some of you guys in Pirate Coalition tried to snipe my Rupture too. But despite using 2 battleships, my good old ruppie came through alive and well. Needed a new paintjob though.

The past few nights I have been having a blast solo. Attacking cruisers with my Pilgrim at gates with sentry fire really makes the blood pump. Basically I think its the bigger the risk the more scared you get, and I love being scared.
p.s. Kessah pls come back I miss you
Cant chief, got my sec up tp -5.7 and i plan on keeping it now. No more low sec for me. War dec's and the new contract system is what i plan for.
Glad your having fun tho chief. Nice to know Veto's still keeping themselves busy --------------------------------------------------------

Only difference between that rush when you start off, and the rush you feel after being 'seasoned', is that when you are seasoned, you know how to keep your head straight during the rush instead of panicking and being overwhelmed. -------------------------------

Agreed. But the rush comes before, and after the fight. Experiance only really stops your hands from shaking during the fight.

I've been pirating since 150k SP when a Punisher was my best ship. The rush is still there, but not on whitewash engagements. Fighting characters you're 100% sure to beat isn't much fun, but as Shamis said, risky fights are fun fights. I solo'd a Prophecy in my Cruder a while ago. THAT was an amazing fight. - - - - -

Edited by: Zwotte on 28/06/2006 12:25:45 The fantastic rush i got from killing my first victim i never got back but still gets my blood pumping.
I consider the ship, i fly in, lost so the rush of the chance of loosing your ship i don't expierence. My kick comes from well coordinated strikes and killing people knowing they got warpcorestabs fitted and toying arround in my ceptor flying and out gatecamps.

Edited by: R Dan on 28/06/2006 13:23:56 I dont remember long enough back for my first couple of engagements (stupid booze! :P) :(
but I do know that over the last few years I've gotten better at keeping my head while engaged / engaging someone. To start off it was very easy to make a silly mistake. but as the number of fights your involved in increase you'l get quicker and better at making the right choice....I do find that I lose some of this "edge" (of making the right choices quickly) too soon if I dont fight for a while... like now, I'm gonna be rusty - been C'bearing too long!
But if you do take a break from the killing and then return, then the rush comes back better too :P because it is something you can get used too - like going several weeks without a beer and then going out on the lash....mmmmmm man does that first beer taste great!
I do tend to find a couple of other factors come into it too: fights that you might win, are more fun than fights you will definately win or definately lose. and will create more rush too If you build a reputation, be it in your own head, corp wide, alliance wide, or EVE community wide it increases the pressure on yourself to perform
I will save you, but make sure you bring beer - Wrangler and cAKe - Imaran I thought it was bREe, omgi'mgivingawaymodroomsecwetsftl - Cortes when come back ... bring PIE. Me like PIE. -Capsicum |

I am a new player (nine days old) thought I would try my hand at piracy. After specifically training up in every skill I would need to make what people suggested would be a good pvp punisher setup, I got kitted up and trotted off to the nearest .4 system.
I warped around the belts a few times looking for a nice cruiser or indy without success.
Eventually I came across a rifter about 30 k away in one of the belts. I quickly examined him, 6 days old, hmmmmm wtf!! now im targetted and warp scrambled!!!. A quick poke of the after burners, full speed ahead, and I have him Scrambled too and my Nos engaged. At this point his shield is almost at 100% and he is eating into my armour eeek!!!!!. Into action the Armour repair unit goes and my guns start to eat into his shields. Two minutes later, his ship goes pop.
What a rush though!!!, my blood was pumping and I was physically shaking from the experiance for a good five minutes afterwards. After a quick chat, it turned out that it was the rifter pilots first time at pvp too, really nice bloke, gratz to him for a great experience :)

Welcome to the addiction of piracy. And minnie ships too. Damn, all the right moves so far...
Like this thread shows, you will want more and more challenges with time, but the rush never really goes away completely.
See you in low sec.

Piracy is nothing like beating a small child or a puppy? Dont know what you are talking about...maybe you are ganking newbies in Jita and confusing it with piracy. --- The Eve Wiki Community Portal | Eve Tribune |

I'm generally a more cautious PvPer (and I was cautious when I was a pirate too) and never engaged if I wasn't pretty sure that I stod a good chance. The way I found that helped was to just FRAPs everything with the intention of making a movie of my exploits (read adventures, not h4x). Even if you don't, you suddenyl start to get more risky because you want cool fights in your video (for example, taking on a pair of (PvP setup) BC in a Brutix).
Either way, you start doing more daring stuff to get this cool looking footage, and you'll start getting a rush again because your taking risks rather than sitting back confident in the fight's result
