Hmmmm....some interesting comments in this thread. And some silly ones, too
I predominantly mission run. This isn't to say that that is all I do, but in general, yes, I am a mission-runner so to speak.
Now, I believe I understand exactly what is meant by farming, and I am presuming it is where you accept a mission, go out and do it, but don't collect it. Then go back after x amount of time and all the juicy rats worth up to 1.3m are back again?
OK, if that's farming then I honestly do not see how this affects me, or any other aspect of EVE at all.
Why?
Becaue every player pays an amount of money per month to do what they want in EVE. If this farming was such a massive problem, then CCP would have dealt with it a lot longer ago than this. People simply make their own pathways.
Say you're walking to your local shop. There's a stretch of land that is just grass and a little bit barren. You know, the sort of area that will sooner or later be developed, but for now, it's an handy short cut. Look at the pathways. They weren't designed by the council, they were made by you. And me. And everyone. We all find our own way and even take short cuts instead of the 'proper' route.
If people wish to farm then let them. If people wish to hold peeps up for ransom, then let them.
These farmers are in it for the iskies only. I alike a previous poster, am in it for the LP's and the iskies are a bonus. A nice bonus for sure, but not my main priority.
Just think on a little further. Those of you commenting about the farmers making 'too much' isk, would surely not refuse that isk if a farmer was to buy a faction module off you that enabled you to do your thing. In fact, if we could all see the origin of the funding that facilitates legitimate commerce, then seriously, ask yourself, would you be so holier-than-thou if you were the beneficiary?
Ummm....no, didn't think so.
I used to get the drone missions. I did them, and they were one of the very few I looted because the compounds were a nice bonus to that mission. But that's a 'me' thing. I collected the mission LP's and the reward and moved along. Eventually, after some time I bought a CNR. Maybe a farmer did too. But I would be surprised if he/she made any further headway than I did regards the amount of time taken. Plus, repeating the same mission again and again must be mind numbing.
All in all, unless mission farming seriously affects us, let people do their thing. Piracy affects me, but I don't moan about it [anymore, lol].
Too many people are concerned with what opther people are doing in here. Concentrate on your own enjoyment of this thing called EVE and less on others. It's the only way, I assure you.
