Edited by: Cyrus Gideon on 22/06/2006 16:57:32 I think it got something to with do that the rattlesnake is a guerista faction ship (at least from what I know) while the Caldari Navy Raven is, well, Caldari. A lot of people are doing missions for Caldari, but only a few do missions for Gueristas, so its kinda rare.

Its also better than the CNR in almost every respect.
/me longs for the days when it was only 1b. Damned inflation =P

Much rarer than CNR. As for better, not sure on that.
I'd probably take a CNR over it for most things.

That wasn't inflation. That was nerfing the fact that all the faction BSs were dropping like candy

The RS has the same missile slots as a normal Raven. But it has the BEST shields in the game. You can shield tank that mother to no end.
The CNR has one addititonal missile slot thus has more damage output.

Well, I love my Rattlesnake, although since I came back to EVE a week ago, or so, I havent used it much for missions and ratting; playing with my Cerberus.
The CNR is awesome ship, I had it before the Rattlesnake.
Anyway they are both awesome ships. And as such deserve the price. Rattlers are rare, its as simple as that, they used to drop often, now they are not. CNR with mission improvements is more accesible to general public since there are literally tens of thousands of people running Caldari missions, and it is reflected in the price.
/me tickles Hippo's fat fold.

There are several factors, first the guristas complexe only exist in 8/10 which are not very rewarding and drop the rattlesnake bpc very rarely anyway, I'm not sure that all the guristas complexe are as much farmed as angels ones for instance, just see how much the Machariels go for. The primary source of RS BPC are the mission runners in Venal, and you get very profitable crystal implant offer, so the RS price has to be competitive with the crystal offers for the mission runner to accept them. Then the RS is probably better than the CNR from all point of view, sure the CNR has one more missile bay, but the RS has one more low slot which is probably more valuable for PvE purposes.

I thought Estamel and some other Officer rats drop Rattler BPCs - not only plexes. But, yea, it is a rare ship and ought to stay this way.

they do drop the RS BPC, but officer are rare ... and they drop BCP rarely, so the effect on the market is negligible. Complexes, especialy 10/10 drop them with a much higher frequency.

It's because the Rattlesnake has a scorp slot layout (amasing jammer) coupled with the 6 launcher hardpoints of a raven (does nice damage) making it a killing machine.

Yes RLY
Of course, there are no gurista or blood 10/10's, only serpentis, sansha and angel ones. Which nicely explains the relatively high cost of Rattlesnakes (very nice ships) and Bhaalgorns (also nice, but less so for pve) compared to Machariels, Vindicators and Nightmares.

unfortunately, that is totally and utterly wrong.
Its a raven (model is scorp, but don't let that fool you. Its a raven all right) with an extra low, higher base HPs and a 5% per level hybrid turret damage bonus (unless it is 10% range/lvl, not sure on this one)

Rattlesnake is as close to a solo pwnmobile as battleships get. It wipes the floor with the CNR in almost every respect, apart from the extra missile launcher. But who needs that when you can fit 6 BCU's?

6 BCUs are useless, fitting a decent CNR setup is much easier than fitting a rattler (extra CPU 4tw), the extra damage is worth much more than the the extra low.
What did you want to know?

Just for the hard of thinking, I did a bit of maths. 6 t2 BCUs do a fantastic 3% more DPS than 4 of them

Each to their own. All I know is I have both and the CNR stays in the station as it is next to useless compared to the rattler.

Edited by: Lardarz B''stard on 22/06/2006 20:32:46 It will take more than a bit of posh calculator bashing to convince me that the rattlesnake isnt better than the CNR by at least the 700m extra it sells for.

Why are we rolling our eyes? PS: More then 4 BCU is pointless, stacking penalty would kick in. -----

because the cn raven costs 1bill and the rattlesnake costs 2bill.....2 devided by 2 = 1 so its twice the price
