fitting a passive tank on a vulture will give you better tanking then any large shield booster setup will bring you
also: the 5LSE II 1x EM II setup, switching to 4LSEII 1x invul II 1x EM II will give you a better tank (invul II raises your tanked dps with something like 37%)

Incorrect - An estamels setup will give a better setup than passive . Also, with a passive setup you cant do anything. Cant snipe, tackle, nothing. The only thing its useful for is tanking missions, sentry guns, or POS.

Ok...I love this ship!
I run it with: 5x T2 Heavies 2x 250mm Rails
1x medium shield booster 1x invulnerability hardener 1x EM hardener 3x T2 large extenders
3x T2 PDU 1x T2 BCS
But the real question is what rigs do we put on this bird? There is no rig to benefit the gang assist, so do we increase the tank or the gank?

In lows obviously DCU for general nberness and 2-3 damage mods, depending on if it all fits without a PDS II (tbh I don't know if it fits with just one either) and if the pilot prefers damage or tanking. I'll have to try which suits me better, but I'm guessing the damage.
17k optimal?
wow, thats one hell of a setup lol, very nice. Especially considering the lowprice of the vulture. You even got to cram some gangmods on it.
Didnt espect you to crosstrain into caldari though _________________________________________________ Breetime

dropping the em hardener for both web and scram is cool
You can basically passive tank sentries, but have active setup for the tanking multiple bs and sentries. Though, when you fit like this you are always bait. I have jumped and fought 4 bs at the gates tanking em while my gang jumps in and f's everyone up.
Thought slow it has pretty nice range and damage. the 3 Nos instead of 2 and another blaster is the key.
Though i have attacked bob vultures in a mwd'ing crow orbiting at 19km and still been hit by 250's (prolly cause they were in sniper mode and had like tracking boosts up the ass)
full passive tanking is stupid since it nerfs the rest of your ship. Nos are overpowered, i hate em. They make this setup ridiculous.

Wow that's an old post. Unfortunately my calculations were wrong (or maybe the other bonus is just not working) and the optimal is 12 km. Right now I'm running a setup like this on it (I've switched the damage mod to another SPR, though which drops the recharge to 588 sec).
Actually when I started out I flew caldari. I trained up to BS first before returning my righteous gallentean path. Later on I've been patching my caldari skills and now I have frig V, cruiser V, bs IV and t2 heavy missiles so that I can pretty much fly anything t2 of either races efficiently (nighthawk ftw!)

The setup ive been playing with recently is:
HI: -2x med dim nos -5x med ion blasters T2
MED: -1x XL shieldbooster T2 -1x invul field T2 -1x med electro cap injector (with 400 charges) -1x 10mn ab T2 -1x fleeting web -1x 20km fleeting scrambler
LOW: -1x mag field stab T2 -2x PDU T2 -1x true sansha PDU
Rigs: - hybride damage rig - em resistance rig
Drones: -5x warriors T2
Note: when i will have my hybride rig skill at a higher lvl i will probably be able to drop the true sansha pdu for a T2 one.
This fit gives a nice tank , decent dps and propulsion with web and scramble , good to use with small squads , mostly i fit null ammo , but when im close enough i switch to void offcorse

Well - ive been experimenting...
Ive been following yours Mech as you know, rather closely.
However, ive altered mine a bit. I find tracking can be a problem.
5 ion blaster II, 2 med diminishing nos. 1 AB II, 1 Dread Guristas Large Shield Booster, 1 Shield Boost Amp II/Fleeting Web, 1 medium electrochem cap injector, Invuln II, Scrambler. 3 pdu II, 1 mag stab Rigs: EM resist, Shield Boost Cycle reduction one.
This is the ultimate pirate one. Can tank sentrys for a good while, and a BS ontop. The damage is pretty nice too.
Range of 16km with null.
Not bad eh? ^^ oh ps - 5 light ecm drones :P

EDIT: Forgot the "II"
It is in game through invention, seen some on market before, however was costing like 100M for one so not worth it, anyway...Vulture obviously has 2 range bonuses to hybrids, however powergrid is very limited when using 3 gang modules, to the point where using missiles becomes the only option.
Now I dont fly this ship, so I had a go on quickfit, I presume you want to fit rails, as you asked about so I made a fit using rails, 3 gang mods, nice ammount of shield and 150KM ish range, with 150KMish lock range. So this setup is if you want to be involved in the fleet pew pew.
So;
3 X Gang Mods 4 X 250mm Railgun II 1 X Invul Field II/Named 1 X Photon Scattering II 2 X Large Shield Extender II 1 X Sensor Booster II 1 X Tracking Computer II 4 X PDU II/Type-d
Its an OK setup I think..dps isnt much, but its got the range needed for fleet pvp if thats what your wanting it for.

Even if im far away from flying a vulture (im an amarr/gallente cbc pilot) i wonder
why many of the posted setup dont have a mwd
if you wana use vulture as a blaster platform , you need a mwd for sure to get in
range and start shooting

Heh, bad hans.
That's the last time I give out my ship tanking setup :)
Well since this insane tank setup is now out in the open, what is the multiplier on the regen at 30%? (I heard 2.4?)
If that is the case, then this 100% passive setup gives me 250 hp / sec regen.... 300-350+ with a couple tweaks I have done to my setup (still passive).
My nighthawk is almost as nasty, fully loaded with T2 hams. :)

Can drop web/scram/injector and replace with an AB and Invuln II... but I like the "oh sh**" factor when you get webbed and scrammed. Flies like a bathtub, but then again, it's Caldari...
Pretty mean tank, not sure of the DPS. Might drop the web and use a heavy web drone.

Interesting. How effective are your guns for hitting something 240km out (dmg amount and misses). I could possibly consider training up guns for this. Is there still enough cpu/pg for any gang mods?

ROF is dependant on your skills but around 3 secs and hmmm yeah should be able to 2 volly most t1 frigs. Ceptors depends on the pilot I had a nice obliging noob mwd directly at me in a crow POP in 2 and a half vollys. Sadly not all hostiles are that helpfull so can take a few shots.

To those who said that the Vulture's resists are naturally high...that's true, except for EM damage. With BC 5 as base, it's still 25%. Anything hitting you with lasers, EM missiles, etc., is going to hurt.
The EM passive (or better yet, active) hardener is pretty much necessary.

Marcus, you'll probably benefit more from some resists, or at least a single shield recharge module, 5 LSE with barely any recharge or resists is not a good idea imo.
Might as well leave it safespotted somewhere. And consider extra rigs for a better passive tank if you do play gang-support.
