Everyday I find myself wondering, are people REALLY getting this mad over pixels and shiptosting as a result, or is every one of the whiners really just alts of the so-called "perpetrators of injustice," trolling every one of us. |

What so may people fail to grasp is that CODE. is not a bunch of idiot pilots, sociopaths, rejects, or any of the other nasty things they get called. They're a group of PvP pilots who found a way within game mechanics to achieve near-perfect target selection. On top of this target selection, they add coordination, proper fits, and good tactics in order to achieve their goals. Considering that proper target selection is at least 75% of PvP, I'd say that, on average, they're actually better PvP'ers than most. Just because their target selection may not jive with you (or a fair number of vocal pilots) doesn't mean they're not good at it.
They're also very accepting of new players, run open channels that are open to all (even their haters), provide logistical support to their members, etc. They're a well-organized shop, and I think a lot of the folks trying to counter them would learn a lot from emulating them in certain regards (just not target selection). (Side note: why haven't any anti-CODE. folks tried scouting out their logistics lines and ganking their haulers? Too hard, or too dishonorable?)
Plus, having been with them on voice comms before, they seem to have a load of fun doing all of this. Isn't that what EvE is ultimately about? Having fun? They certainly have at least as much fun as drunken losec gatecamps do, and they actually get to blow up more stuff in the process.
I'd say that the only thing they really lack is an abundance of drunken comedy fratricide killmails. Reading Comprehension: a skill so important it deserves it's own skillbook.

I've actually suggested to them that they start dropping one gun for a smartbomb on their gank ships for fleet ops (i.e. freighter ganks) just so they can collect bounties off of each other. Considering that most of the bounties were likely placed there by folks they've ganked, it's just one more way for them to maximize the "tears" harvested. That is hilarious. Bounties now being used to fund the ships of the person you bountied. Killboard

I think in most cases, the smart bomb won't fit because of the CPU requirements, unless we drop a SEBO/ECCM/scram, but it might be worth considering. However, since in most cases our ships are only going to pay out about $2M in bounties per ship, it probably wouldn't be worth the DPS loss, or needing an extra ganker or two to make up for it. Of course, this would be the FC's call. Making hisec better...one Catalyst at a time

Of course, this would be the FC's call. From a purely tactical standpoint, you are correct, the drop in overall performance wouldn't likely be offset by the income gained. At the very least, it would certainly make more sense with if your fleet is running with some Brutix/Talos fits in the mix.
However, EvE is not all about efficiency:

You may want to look up what quotations are.
Quotation marks can used around a single word or a group of words to indicate use of a borrowed word or phrase. Using this, I was referencing the person's meaning of 'real' pvp and stating that their goal is not what that person deems to be 'real' pvp.
So please, if you are going to criticize anyone for what they think the meaning of pvp is, at least criticize the correct people.. |
