My first PVP loss was about a year after I started EVE. I had taken a break right after they introduced WH's to EVE I was gone for a few months.
When I came back there still was not a ton of info about WH's I scanned one down and jumped through on the other side was a Tengu camping. He quickly disposed of my caldari destroyer and pod.
And that was my first PVP loss. |

I was heading out to lowsec to meet up with some people in a bait-fit thorax. They had me waiting in a system as the gate on the other side was camped. I think I was in a lowsec system already, and I safed up. I wasn't paying close attention and a cynabal warped in on me and got me pointed before I could warp out. I pointed him and managed to survive a decent bit with my surprise armor tank, but alas none of my compatriots could get to me before I blew up. I got my pod out though. That'll teach me not to pay attention while in unfriendly space, even at a safe spot.

When I was a nub I told my corpmate that I could take him on. I learned 3 things that day...
- RL age doesn't matter. Despite being 16 (and me 26) he had more experience in the game than I did.
- Bringing another newbie corpmate as [dishonorable] backup doesn't really work unless you have a plan. I did not have a plan beyond "warp to" and "F1."
- I did not know how to fit a ship properly.
My poor Incursus. 
Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

Looks like it was within a week of starting the pvp alt, took part in a Redemption Road public fleet roam in a tackle T1 frigate. From memory, there was a call to warp to a plex, I initially warped to the wrong one, paused mid-warp owing to lack of cap. Couple of other frigates on that plex so I warped out again immediately. I warped to the correct plex, again pausing mid-warp. Course, by the time I got there, those two were ready and waiting. One was another tackle Slasher, the DPS was provided by his mate, in a Fed Navy Comet.
As an aside, in looking at the details for this character, there appear to be records of losses in this name attached to a 'Doomheim' corp from 2011... which is rather odd, as I only started playing in Feb 2014. Are names from biomassed characters re-allocated to the general pool? |

My first loss was in lowsec. I was watching NPC corp chat and noted two new players on the verge of ragequit. So I told them that's not the spirit of the game. I managed to talk them into going into the lowsec system where they got ganked and take the fight back to who ganked them. I went with them.
We lost. But a good time was had by all. And they didn't quit.

About 3 weeks after I first started a few years back now, autopiloting an empty shuttle through hisec. Was silly enough at the time to think an empty shuttle would not be a gank target.
Never autopiloted since :D |

Nearly two years ago myself & a friend volunteered to go out on a Null Sec suicidal roam to experience PVP for the first time.
Jumped into a gate camp & Leeroy Jenkin'd my Drake( ) towards the nearest enemy.
It was an honourable albeit painful death but a lot of fun.

Long long time ago on my very first EVE toon I was flying my Thrasher and got invited to a duel - I had no idea about fitting at all, and had only guns and one shield tank loaded. It ended shortly and badly for my ship. |

Null sec, an empty Bestower with a Mining laser fit. I was less than a month in the game and had great plans of filling it with Jaspet. The picture looked cool. Green stuff, like emeralds. |

Mining barge. A procurer I think. I D/C and came back dead. The guy noticed, apologized and refunded my ship, not just for the D/C but also for noticing my toon was less than a month old. he taught some basic skills. Like staying out of low sec, lol.

I belive it was back in 2008. Barly had started the game and was invited to null sec. The guys taugth me to keep an eye out on local, so I did. Me and my noob 2 months old dominix was ratting when a russian scout entered the system. I panicked and warped to a gate instead of the safe pos. Beeing well taugth i thougth cloaking would be enugh. But the damn russian started typing in local, and not long after he was on grid , burning back and forth to try and uncloak me. It did'nt take him long, and soon his Whole fleet was unpon me. I learned alot that day :P |

I lost a thorax years ago trying to save a "friend" who bailed as soon as the person switched targets to me.
I really didn't understand fittings, ammo types or pvp at all (I probably still don't tbh) and promptly got popped when my mate ran.
Turns out I also didn't understand aggro timers back then either ( I do now ) because when I undocked a few mins after buying a Myrm with nothing fitted to it, I ended up with my second pvp loss as the same person warped to station and blew me up.
Had a good chuckle about that in local and put it up as a learning experience, docked again and went and read up about timers  |

The FC jumped us into a gatecamp in lowsec due to a miscommunication with the scout, and ordered everyone to scatter. Expecting this order I was sitting with my finger on the warp button, but got pointed along with the FC's drake and my little catalyst died fast. The rest of the fleet made it.
On that day I learned that when your FC jumps you into a gatecamp, don't be the first to decloak. |

Ratting in a belt in lowsec when I was about a month old. Dude appeared while I was just looting a wreck, pointed me and started in on me, I tried to defend myself, but just wasnt to be.
Next couple of losses were the same.

About a month after I started playing, I became active with the local Minmatar RP community, called PRM (which eventually became Ushra'Khan). Much of what we did was fighting the CVA (which was only a coalition of corporations at the time), but we also spent a lot of time fighting pirate players in low sec Molden Heath. I was tackling one of those pirates with a Slasher, he was in a Tempest fitted with 1400mm arties. Even my close high speed orbit wasn't enough to avoid the wrecking shot and I got instapopped by one of the guns.
After that I started flying Torpedo Ruptures, never did get around to cruise missiles before the change.

was in the curse alliance and celest apoc decced us.
went out in my first apoc. sniping fit, sat on some empire gate somewhere and waited!
jazz bo warps into gate in his thorax, i opened up, and he just got out in hull.
so i just sat there feeling all pleased with myself-liking all this pvp stuff- when next thing jazz turns up a couple k from me with father lazarou and shadowthorne and handed my my arse. |
