Training Rank 1 skills to level 5 seemed like a long time to you? Man I would LOVE to train a rank 1 skill to level 5 because they 'only' take me about 4.5 days. These days I am usually training rank 4 or 5 skills. The typical rank 5 to level 5 takes me around 28 days. Now that seems like an eternity, but in about a year from now when I finally start moving this character into more advanced stages and I'm training a rank 12 or something, I'm going to love to be able to do these.
It's also a rare treat for me to get a brand new skill and knock out the first 3 levels in under a day.
"Skill training completed" is so addictive to hear.

Ah, I know what you mean =).
My advice would be to get into Sience. Most skills are rank 5 tho, but training them to at least lvl4 is np. And there are alots of skills there. Or any of the other social/trade/leadership.

Oh, yeah. I remember when I first got High Speed Maneuvering. I was like: "I'm never gonna train that to IV, it'll take forever." Now I'm happy when I have a rank 1 or 2 skill to train to V, and don't even blink when I train any skill to IV.

I just trained small proj to level 5, bout 4.5 days, was such a good feeling. Then I put on Caldari cruiser to 5 ... sigh

ya,
i'm training heavy drones 5 right now, like 2 weeks left 
my alt banged out like 4 skills last week(goes back to training for large barge about noon my time today)
we actually were talking about this in alliance the other day, when one person was like 'that will take xx days(more than 5 but less than 15) to complete'.. and a couple of us started babbleing about wishing we had skills that were less than 15 days on tap
this of course started the posting of skills/sp's, and I realized i'm OLD!(ok, so I am only almost 16m SP)

I'm at over 30 days average now... sucks sometimes, feeling of getting something new, cool and getting a nice bonus within minutes or hours is something I really miss sometimes. That's usually when I buy myself a new toy. ;-)

I knocked off a rank 1 to 5 today, how satisfying, so fast.
Back to the grind on teh long stuff now lol

I like long skills, no more waking up at odd hours to change skills, and no worrying about skills =)
(Unfortunately now I have the same thing for putting stuff in the oven) =[

Training minmatar cruiser 5 atm, just under 2 weeks left...longest skill I have trained yet.
