I will never ever ask for ransom again... i once had this barge in front of me (barge is minimum 4 million loot for the strips)
i had it down into structure and was orbiting it and asked for ransom just to be swarmed by drones... it almost killed my ceptor and i killed it finally with about 20% structure left.

include insurance money, time lost, clone cost, lost implants - and if its T2, definitely factor in the pain in the ass of finding a new ship. Not to mention the difficulty of finding something like a barge or HAC to target and ransom from your part.
My rates:
BC: 12mil
tier1 BS/recon cruiser: 30mil
tier2 BS/HAC: 45mil
AF/inty: about 75% of cost

I think 15mil is a little too much for a BC. Seeing as alot of players get their BS after just 4 - 6 weeks of play they will probably have massed about 30 - 40 mil of total assets then.
Part in keeping this game the fun it is is not beating down the newer players too much. Later on when they DO have money and assets, THEN it will be fun meeting them in a war or fleet battle. Pirating and killing anything below a T1 battleship is not really worth it and on the edge of grieving if you ask me.

Why are pirates so busy whining when they themselves cheat and lie I wonder?
In my N00b naivite I have at times been lured into traps by seemingly nice folks where the sole purpose of it was to wring my poor *ss dry of Isk.
I cannot see anything wrong with people trying to get the most out of a 'hostage' situation. Its fair game. Just because you ganked their defenceless hauler does not warrent them to roll over and pay whatever you want from
them.
I get pretty ****ed too when I get ganked I never yield in the face of superior numbers it simply does not pay! If my ship blows up I live with it I never write hatemails or whiny posts on that account.
I just get over it and move on and so should you!

Yeah, that was more of a description of griefers/murderers than of pirates/pvpers.
Most true pirates you'll come across have tons of class and and if you don't smacktalk to them, they'll ransom you without damaging your ship. Just look at people like Verone. Hell, if he ransomed me, I'd pay him twice what he asked for! (Verone's a cool guy. No one else expect that from me. :P)
People who don't honor ransoms are griefers. People who kill without intent of profit are griefers. People who kill with the intent of profit are murderers. People who steal are thiefs, however, when you're being ransomed you have a choice, unlike when your ore is being totted away by some jackass in a stabbed-up indy.
Alot of people throw them all in the same class because they inhabit lowsec and tend to kill people. /me shrugs
