Edited by: QwaarJet on 06/07/2006 11:25:33 I'll say for Group C
Chorus Of Dawn to win!
On a more serious note, I expect Ushra'Khan and MC to qualify, but I hope we have a shot.

Put last time out of your memory. To be honest, our 'team' last time was thrown together at the last minute, and I mean that quite literaly. In addition, there was a great deal of apathy in the MC at the time as we'd just come off a huge contract against 5 and -V- and the concept of a 'PvP Contest' just didn't really spark our imaginations. Needless to say, we were proven wrong and paid for our lack of foresight with an early exit.
Not this time, m8. While anything can happen in an event like this, I can promise you that you'll see a very different MC than before. -

Lemme just think out loud a sec here.
Before all the trash talking and "king of the mountain" speak begins, I just want to clarify:
How much bragging rights is on the table?
To me, PvP without EW is like sexoring with no lube. I would be happy to crown the winner as the king of a no-EW, controlled PvP arena match. But a **** star, IMO, you are not.
However, if we can all agree that there is something more, as everyone continues to imply, then fine with me. Believe me, I would love to watch ISS mop the floor with everyone, and sell you back all your cool mods and guns at 300% markup. But in the same sense, I don't want to see BoB win and everyone blow it off like it was supposed to happen either.
Thoughts?

Of course one gets some bragging rights from winning this, because strategy / tactics count for the most here, it's not just amount of ISK or SP altho those certainly are big factors.. Being veteran enough not to mess your strategy up counts for a lot too, thus experienced pvpers have an advantage despite it being a tournament format.
Just because you win here doesn't mean you're a godly TQ fighter or fleet commander, but people who succeed by use of ECM, damps, stabs and whatnot don't particularly impress me anyway. It's the easy way, the win button, what lets you fight 10vs1 and still not be easily killable.
The tournament has the best fighters and strategists fighting each other on relatively equal terms, no blobbing or win buttons involved..

If we go all the way, cool. If we don't, oh well. Win or lose, I love the new World Cup format that assures people will get more than one fight. It's still going to be fun as hell to just watch all the other players. -

Edited by: Keera Saarusuos on 10/07/2006 00:42:00 Krapz, there's just no realistic way to include ECM in a competition in this format (within an arena, no warping, no cloaking, etc). The winning team would invariably be the one with a scorp, a rook, and a command ship packed with EW enhancing mods. The amount of jamming those two ships can do is more than enough to lock down 5 enemy ships.
Personally I have much less interest in the outcome of a 'whose EW ships can lock and start their jams faster' contests than the format we have here.
