I am doing level 2 agent missions. I fly in Moa with two 250 medium gaus gun, 200 medium gauss gun and 250 small scout 1 gun. Plus two standard missile launchers. I've managed to finish first three missions but cant' go pass the forth one. When I got to the dead space with acceleration gate I was confronted with 5 or 6 mercenaries ships so I thought it's going to be easy and it was. Killing all but one was walk in the park, but the last one is giving me problems. It's mercenary interceptor and I just can't kill him. He hit's me with some torpedo or somethins similar and my speed drops to minimum (I think I get webbed) and my hits (medium super guns) are doing no damage. I mean I can damage him but before my guns get to second hit, he's shields are all back to maximum. What's the catch? Is it because I get webbed? How can I defend against getting webbed? What firepower or tactics should I use in order to defeat him? Please help.

WEB that ship back. Once that ship is slowed to a crawl, its ripe pickings for your guns, just be sure your guns and ammo are suited to work at 10kms.

I can't recall the drone bay size on the Moa - but against fast, close frigs, your best bet is to web it and/or use small guns, light drones and rockets or missiles.

Rails are going to have trouble hitting fast ships like Interceptors. You have to web the interceptor, or just rely on the missiles. You should be using assault launchers on a Moa as well, not standard launchers. Considerably faster rate of fire with the assault launchers. It'd still be pretty time consuming to drop an inty with just 2 assault launchers though.
Long range guns against frigs just need webbers to be able to hit them well.

I remember doing those missions but I think I was in a caracal. I think I loaded up on 4 or 5 assualt missles bays to take him out. But yeah he was a pain with them shields keeping on going up. You need some serious fire power to take him.

Edited by: Neckbone on 28/06/2006 22:03:37 First time I did this mission, I was in a Rupture that I had JUST gotten, I couldn't even fit cruiser weaponry yet, and only had two drones (mediums). I got webbed, found that even my AB wouldn't get me in range, and had my two little drones take an eternity killing off everything but the interceptor. They didn't have enough damage output to kill him, and my autocannons & rockets (my frigate weaponry) couldn't reach LOL. I warped out and fitted small artillery on (yeah I had autocannons LOL) and went back. Took awhile, but I got him.
Second time I did this mission, I was in my Rupture after picking up some secondary gun skills, and getting my third medium drone (filling the bay). This time I punched the burners and ran before I was in web range, lighting him up with heavy launchers and all three drones. By the time he caught me he had eaten enough medium AC & missile & drone damage to almost have his shields broken. I got webbed up but managed to pop him because he spent so long with no transversal on me. Then I wasted his buddies and moved on.
Third time I did this mission, I was in my Rifter with all named modules. I did the exact same tactic as the second, only this time I got 85km from his buddies before he caught up to me, and as he was 12km out I spun about on him and rushed him, throwing up my web. End result was we were both webbed, but I was already moving towards him at 800 m/s per second before the web, while he was still moving towards me after he was webbed. End result is he had 3 ACs & a rocket launcher crammed up his tailpipe and popped. Went back to the pack of buddies and flew really damned fast and did a little praying, and took them out.
Last time I did the mission, I was in my Cyclone with T2 passive shield tank. I unleashed my drones, put the Inty on Keep At Range, threw on the AB and turned on 5 medium AC's (mostly missed) and 3 heavy launchers. It took a minute or two to pop him, and the drones did most of the work. After that I targetted all the other guys, put a weapon on each one of them, and went AFK to play with our kitty for a little bit.
Fun mission, nasty interceptor.

webber and light drones are youre friend. Autocannon might help as well (i know its minmatar) but they dont use any cap anymore and are ok on gal ships if u have skills

Caracal 5 heavy missile launchers, 2 loaded with EM, 3 with kinetic. Warp in, target inty, fire, shields go pop, inty goes boom, hit AB and keep as far away as possible from your target, rinse and repeat. Works for me =)

Worth getting back in your frig for 4. Might have to do some warping out, but it's doable.

If all else fails, he will eventually decide he's an assault ship and get right up in your face without webbing you. I'm still trying to figure out if there's something non-random about it.

My Pilot is no Joe Hell and my Thorax is run of the mill. I just let that interceptor chew on the cruiser while my drones (3 Infiltrator I's and 2 Infil II's) chew on it. Webber sounds good but I haven't trained and fitted one yet.

It starts with 'D' and ends in 'estroyer'...

I've found that for doing level 2 missions in a Cruiser, small guns and a webber are essential. Now that you know which enemy ship is the real threat go straight in after him - afterburner, web, and get in optimal range. Throw drones at him if available.
Once that interceptor is dead the rest of the mission is fairly routine.

I about to take that mission for the first time. I 'll fly it in a Vexor. will a stasis and 5 hornets do the job ?
I have combat drone operation at 4 and drone interfacing at 3 |

I recently completed it with a Thorax (800mm plate, Med repairer, 4 small blasters, 1 nosferatu, webber, 5 hammerheads) and it pushed me pretty close to the edge of my armor, but that was it. You should be OK in a Vexor if you're loaded out to fight frigates and have some decent resistance to the applicable pirate damage type.

That would be kinetic/thermal , right ?

I believe so, yes. Though if you can't use hardeners I recommend a damage control unit and one or two adaptive nano plates.

Something I have not seen mentioned that worked for me was that inteceptor was hard to kill until I started out 40KM or so from him and opened up with my caracal's 3 heavy missile launchers, the NPC then closed range with a microwarp drive active. At first my heavies barely did any damage to his shields but as soon as he hit zone 5 with his microwarp drive, his signature became huge, my 3 heavies ripped through his shields and most his armor before he got into webbing range of me, webbed me shut off his warp drive, but it was too late at that point I was into its hull structure, its was only a matter of time at that point and it was toast.

*shrug* I started late on the missions scene (dragged into the game by a bunch of miners) and haven't had any problems...but then I fly a tempest now and not much (npc) scares me in it. I normaly just go in and unleash the drones and watch them pop everything that comes close.

Although drones is the easiest way to kill that interceptor, I did it easily with guns only. The trick is to have a a webber on , a simple stasis webifier will do, and small guns. I did it with 150mm rails. I suppose missile users can do it with standard launchers.
