I personally DO believe that aliens exist. But thats as far as my belief extends, I know nothing about these "alien abductions" and stuff like that but I do think that aliens exist. Why? Because there are an uncountable number of planets out there. It would be incredibly arrogant of us as humans to think that we are the only sentient race out there. =============================================== *If you don't want me to complain about WCS then don't complain when I gank you with a 5 man fleet just so I have enough points on |

Hm... i dont think, that we will ever find aliens, using our SETI program, as it currently exists. Scanning for radio waves to find them, is (imho)the wrong way. The current Human evolution suggests, that we develop our technology ever faster with every year. In fact way faster than most ppl think.
And it is going to increase ... and i think it will inrease dramatically... we will develop ever better techs ever faster with ever better techs, upto a point where radio signals will be a thing of the far past.
And looking at the relative short timespan, where WE really emitted Radio signals then, and assuming that other intelligent aliens out there have a similar technical evolution, means that we would need to be incredibly lucky to stumble across a race wich is currently in line (or close) to our own Technology.
Maybe those Aliens are already here on earth right now and our governments know it (unlikely) or they are (have been) here without us knowing. I also think any race intelligent enough to travel that big distances despite all the technical physical and time problems, would have a problem hiding from or among us. Maybe they are here to witness our breakthrogh to a technologically state, that can compare to them (wich i think will be sooner than anyone here can imagine... yes call me a dreamer... :) ).
If id be asked, will we see aliens in our lifetime... my answer would be... yes if your arent already more than 40 or 50 years old, its very likely. Not because we will find them that soon, but because you will become that old.
just my 2 cents.

It's not a question of IF they exist, mathmatically it's impossible for them not to.
Billions of stars out there and we know of atleast one star with 9 planets and atleast 1 of those planets contains life.

I agree with that 100%. If I was an alien observing humans I would be disgusted at how primitive we actually are while calling ourselves "civilized". Killing each other over Religion, Land, Resources... its pathetic. =============================================== *If you don't want me to complain about WCS then don't complain when I gank you with a 5 man fleet just so I have enough points on |

fighting over fictional gods(ie religeon) is stupid. no matter how well we get to like eachother resources will allways be a point of conflict as humanity will never unite as one due to the religeon part.

It's true, aliens have been studying us for years.
We are part of a galactic zoo presentation. We come under the heading 'What happens when you let monkeys go bad. Part 1'.
On another note the search for intelligence beyond the earth is a very important project. For the sheer fact that there's none on earth.

We could be #35975, too though.
Here's another theory: Do you know why there's no intelligent life in the universe? Because at some point of every race's evolution, they come to the point where they invent a weapon capable of wiping themselves out. ---

True; but we haven't avoided coal-fired power stations or pollution, and either one of those might do for us yet. ________________________________________________

well everytime someone wants to build a nuclear plant greenpeace is all over them. yet they dont seem to protest our fossil plants going on nearly 100years old(yea they have the waste issues, modern plants have very low risk of Cherynobling)

UFO believers and "I was abducted and probed!" victims would make excellent targets in a shooter. It would be just like killing zombies, nawtzees and hitmen, except they'd be trashier and they would probably cluster up in a convention. Now that's something for the new generation of postal clones.

tbh sentient beings seem to be inevitably self-destructive. So they probably went the way of the dodo; like we pretty much have as well.

Since humans are the only sentient beings we truely know of, and as far as I can tell we haven't self destructed yet, your statement doesn't make much sense. ________________________________________________________ In space no one can hear you scream unless you have voice comms |

I don't think those aliens are enemies. The problem is our governments because they would lose control over us.

If the aliens were being that heavily blanked from public acknowledgement by the US government, there's 230 other governments they could contact, most of whom would make the knowledge proven and public, worldwide, in a matter of minutes. Strange how they never do.
Stop nad think, we make contact, sumthing goes wrong, there more advanced than we are, war happens, U dont think before u post, sumthing of this magnitude has to be done slowly, not rashly
If they're more advanced than we are, I doubt they would be quick to "war" with an alien race that they could wipe out easily.
Any race with the technology to bridge interstellar distances has at a minimum fusion power and high-end fusion reaction drives. And if you have a fusion reaction drive, you can turn that drive around, point it at a planet, and wipe the entire surface of life. The efficiency of a reaction drive as an engine is directly proportional to its efficiency as a weapon.

Working on the assumption that every other race out there besides us were the model enlightened race from day one. Otherwise, if anyone out there has in fact reached an enlightened stage where they see us fighting ourselves as 'pathetic', they are likely to be enlightened enough to realize that they were the same once, and either accept us as we are, or wait for us to develop further or die. Or you could take the SG/ST point of view wherein we as a race are primitive and pathetic at this point in our development, but in fact have above average potential, as evidenced by people like the great philosopher mentioned above. ---------- Throwing ships away doing stupid things since April '06 |

If aliens exist and have seen us...
i belive they might observe us.. nothing more..
a warlike race.. will probably plan for conquer us but not now due we aren't worth the hassle so they wait until we are strong enough for a fight :)
peaceful race : waits until we are come to a phase where we can do long distance space travel and they will contact us for diplomacy and trade.
evil race: "great planet we take it!" <-- Human race is no more
mad alien scientist "the first mass capture of human labrats"
and so on.. just use yer imagination
so what i post is serious and unserious but gives the viewpoints of mine what will happens :)
hope this will give ye something to think about --------------------------------------------- fallen pilot, lost in space
