Originally by: Mai Shiranui Before I hear whineing about carebearism, I want to make this clear: There's a difference between PvP and what actually goes on in EVE most of the time.
PVP in most games means that I and my pals come over to beat you and your pals. If the teams are equally outfitted and equally skilled, the odds are about 50/50. If they arn't equal, one pwns the other, and they recieve a hard earned w00t!. In EVE, skills, gear, numbers and equipment are having less and less to do with it, and more and more to do with how much isk and SP you lose getting ganked someplace. In EVE it's more to do with knowing what exploit is good before they patch it/admit it's an exploit and how many people you can muster to use that exploit before it finally goes away. Further, it seems to me that more and more players are being forced into PvP that they do not wish to take part in. Now, I'll admit, if PvP isn't your forte, EvE probably isn't the game for you, however, the most recent ploys used by the GMs to nerf non-pvp are reaching the point of absurdity. It would be more honest to simply do away with CONCORD entirely and let the pirates back into high sec.
In fact, they may just have done that, with the advent of low sec alliances ferrying large numbers of expendable battleships made cheaply in low sec to high sec and using them for long running kamikazi strikes against haulers in 1.0 systems. Using insurance and the low cost of ships, even if they fail to pop thier targets, they're making around 40m or more a ship lost. (Sort of negates the part where CONCORD is supposed ot punish players for attacking people in high sec...)
Plus they recive the added bonus of whatever was in the hauler, which is scooped up by thier alt or a pal. In every other MMO I have ever pplayed, we called this an exploit. GM's (notice, I quote no one, as per rules) have stated that this is perfectly acceptable strategy, as it takes time to set up. (Personally, I've noticed that the only time something is an exploit in this game is if it either A) kills a member of BoB, or b) prevents ship loss. No offense to BoB, but it makes me wonder which CEO is also on the GM/Dev team? I bet the other CEO's wonder too :) )
Therefor, as a perfectly acceptable alternative, I would like to propose a perfectly acceptable protest. I would like all non-pvpers and all honest pvpers (ie people who work for thier kills rather then sitting at choke points or in high sec and ganking) to close thier accounts for one month. Just one month. It's less then one skill takes for some of us. I have (many) other mmos to waste my hard earned money on for a month, and I'm certain that many of you do too. I think that CCP should feel in thier wallet what many of us have felt in ours.
I'll be back over in iRO. Visit Swagman in Pront on Chaos server.
