They're always saying "This space for rent!" well how come I can't?
Even if they're limited to events (Such as the BIG games lottery, or the alliance tournaments) that'd be fine. Or even alliance propaganda.

Yes.... Propagande and acts by famous players should be mentioned on the screens.. Would add to the immersion :)

They would do it..
but I recall a dev response last time this idea was floating around, that the guy that coded the billboards left CCP and no one wants to get their hands dirty in that mess of code

Billboards run on html iirc. At least the stuff on them appears in the IG browser cache.
The problem might be that ccp had to check each and every ad for inappropriate content.

Oh don't forget if you are going to modify billboards to remove the collision detection from them and turn them into "holographic projections" that eminate from a gadget attached to the stargate. They are ****ing annoying for indies and freighters where strategically placed between warp-in and gate.

Would be cool if they were a hologram, suspended between two small projectors (hard to collide with).

I'm all for this. I'd like to be able to post to a "system bulletin board" for a fee, and have the posts there available when you're docked, cyclically scrolled across the billboard. It would make stations less boring and get rid of sign cans. Win/win.
