I had a good run before the patch and got half the implants I wanted, but still needed memory, so I went and bought one for 14.5mill.
After the sale was completed I chatted to the seller for a short time and one of his comments was, and I quote, "cool, now I can get my first cruiser".
This got me thinking, anyone can start a new char, do agent missions and within a very short time have 100mill+ in the bank.
I know the implant market is very unstable at the moment, but I think it will settle at around 6-10mill each, in a couple of weeks.
I'm not saying this is a problem, just an observation.

OMG, that must be one tough noob.
The level 3 agent missions that give implants send you up against 50k pirates.

ah, maybe the missions have changed again then, because I could do all my missions in an executioner frigate (although I ended up doing them in a maller), and the hardest was 20k pirate.
Plus you can leave the kill mission for an hour as they don't dromp implants.

So what of it?
If players in this game from days long past had bothered with missions there wouldn't have been such a lucrative market for this 'noob'. More power to him.

I think it's adequate payback for people like myself, and a few other who actually put the effort into their agents in the first place.
Because I spent my first several weeks running agent missions for what, then, was terrible money, and no reward.
Now these implants came along, and the only people who really made on them, are the people who already *had* lvl 3 agents.
the price gouge didn't hit until everybody else started getting up to speed.
I made just under 100M from implants. I could have made much more than that trading or mining over the same period of time. So I don't see the beef.
The money isn't that important to me. As long as I can go out and buy me a nicely kitted cruiser when I lose them (all too often atm, it seems) then I'm a happy puppy.
As for the noobs making a mint: Just forget about it. some people get lucky, just like in real life. When retail hit, most of the beta guys were out ninja-mining ark. A few noobs caught on to what they were doing, and made a mint that way. Of course, the people who missed the boat complained like a motherfather. But that's to be expected. I pretty much missed out myself, only managing to get 2 days of ninja mining in before it was patched. But I'm not the type to complain aboot it.
Anyway, I've lost track of what I was saying, so I'll stop now. .

It just makes up for the fact they never got to ninja mine ark. n00bs are a few million skill points behind anyway. But I don't care if n00bs get some sort of boost. Each n00b we get replaces someone we lost. ----------------------------------------- Sig rented by Drethen Nerevitas. |

yeah.
It also makes up for them not being able to hunt the super-loot cruiser pirates of old. (ahh, fond memories of 15 CU vaps a night)
Also makes up for them not being able to 'easy-spawn' NPC's..
And probably some other cashcows that have been fixed. .

... When you think of it, you'll realize if the person in question was mining instead of running low level agent missions to move up the agent ladder, by this time they'd have enough money for their 'first cruiser' as well.
It's just alternate route, doesn't make things any 'easier' from how they already are.

It seems to me that a person that worked all the way to a lvl3 agent is hardly a noob...

This is why I hardly ever bother posting, because people always take whatever you say arse about face, and you end up having to defend your opinions
All this was all along was an observation.
However just because money cows existed in the past doesn't mean they should do now.
A new player can easily be getting implants within 1 week of starting, you cannot make a comparable amount of money mining or hunting, or even trading because you have to wait for skills, or capital, missions don't rely on anything.
I have nothing against anyone doing this whatsoever, infact I'm pleased they are because it meant I could get my implant, and more that do it means the market will stabilise quicker.
Having said that I think one of the main reasons I'm still playing is becase it was so bloody hard to get where I am now, and I'm quite attached to my char, whereas new players might not get that sense of achievement.

The price of SuperConductors have dramaticly dropped over the last 2 days. You can get them at the highway system for 140k-200k... so stop complaining about high prices. You will get after all 19-25 million isk profit of geting a memory implant and selling it..:P

Took me a week from doing my first level 1 agent mission to getting an implant.
Approx. 48 hours play.
I'd hardly call that easy.

listen, implants are a royal pain to obtain, a noob in a frigate needs some MASSIVE hauling skillz to get past some lev 3 missions, take it form me I have done in excess of 120.
With the frequency with which implants drop now, its just another profitable venture, like NPC farming and mining.

Amen. I get about one a night now (several hours playing), so this is hardly the hand-over-fist method it was before the patch. Besides, it takes a good long time to get a level 3 agent.

You can leave the mission for an hour, true.
But do you realize how much work is involved in obtaining a L3 agent, and then getting an implant from one?
It's not like that "noob" had 14.5mill handed to him for free. If he'd been mining, he could've obtained a cruiser much more quickly.
Running L3 missions without a cruiser is quite hard due to cargo space limitations - You can get the cargo to run the big missions with cheaper ships, but not with nearly the same speed and agility as a cruiser. (Cruiser? Agile? Hell yes compared to an industrial or a frigate kitted out completely with expanders for cargo space.) ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Personaly I think the implants are a good thing it makes training time quicker for everyone. This means noobs can get to a more playable role in the game in a fairly short amount of time and they might stay playing the game instead of quiting after a month because they are so far behind.

Maybe... He bought loads of money on Ebay, or got millions gave to him, spent it on a Battleship and is flying about in a battleship, thus, he never had time to get a cruiser and ran out of money. Therefore, he wants a cruiser to mess about in, and thats how he can get his first cruiser.

Huh????, WTF, for the third friggin time I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS, Read the initial post.
Can anyone tell me what was confrontational about my post???, I'd really like to know.
I voiced my opinion about something, it was MY OPINION, not a challange to anyone.
And...I stand by my statement, A new player starting without any help from anyone can currently make money quicker doing missions than any other career. but...this is MY opinion.
Also I know how difficult it is to do missions I'm currently on about 300, 70 of which is for level 3 agents. I also know how hard it is mining in a Velator, then an Exequrer, and finally in Thorax, all the time waiting for skills to complete.
