Actually that's about 8.995 million more than you should have paid ;)
On my first character I screwed up the attributes not knowing what they did, and ended up with Charisma on about 12 or 13, with memory at 8 or 9, with lvl 5 memory skill and charisma trained on lvl 3 :/
Eeeewwwww.... Unclean! Unclean!

Edited by: Alassra Eventide on 03/07/2006 14:09:53 This is more about a friend of mine, since he never checks the forums:
I had gotten him to try the free trial, and it was nearing the end of it, and he wanted a really big battle, since he hadn't done a large amount of combat.
So, I convinced him that if he brought his best combat ship (I believe it was an Incursus, at the time ), that the two of us could take down a level 3 internal sec mission with no problems, and lots of killing.
I intentionally brought a Rifter, so he "wouldn't feel bad about not training anything bigger to fight in", and that we would be "quite okay and still have lots of killing".
Oh yeah, there was killing alright.
I remember the message he left on my answering machine 15 seconds after gating in. I should have saved it, it left me laughing for close to a month.
The worst part was that I scrambled him so he couldn't run from the death.
Who needs rats when you have friends like me, eh?

Well... It's not really a noob mistake since this whas quite recent.
I'am camping a gate in high-sec (1.0) and joking on vent with my pal Trev, when a hauler full of cloaks lands at my optimal. Yummi ! I open with all my guns and switch client to check where's my own cloaked T2 hauler/collector, then go back on chatting.
A bit later, switch client again and what do I see ? Due to whatever magic, only 2 of my 7 guns are firing, the hauler is about to reach the gate with intact structure, and I am on the receiving end of CONCORD's 1000 dps since 17 seconds. So the loot of 500 mil isk slips right in front of my nose, I loose my BS (no biggie) and get a sec hit for zilch
Morality: Don't engage a target semi-afk

Edited by: Yaerav Aeyar on 03/07/2006 15:00:16 I started playing again couple of months ago (two different characters on two accounts. Efficiency for zee win and all. One char mining with a corp in 0.5 in the inactive window, and one doing missions somewhere at the other side of empire. I was pretty exited about discovering the COSMOS thing, and happily started on a level 2 drone killing mission from one of those agents in Jolia.
A couple of things were hammered into my mind that day:
1: If your gunnery skills are not that brilliant, do not take medium railguns with you when going after rogue drones, kids. 2: And if you do, please, do not forget your webber. 3: And if you do, at least don't be so mushy-brained that you do not bring any drones with you either.
Because if you make all these mistakes at the same time, you will, very slowly but extremely efficiently, be torn to shreds by that one inevitable puny itty-bitty strain render drone.
When, after almost fifteen minutes of agonising and senseless yelling at the screen until my thorax went down and fifteen more minutes of staring at my pod all sad and teary-eyed, I finally got around to checking the miner, all I saw were some messages in the empty gang chat along the line of "Ok, wrapping up for today. been fun, logging off" and a friendly message from Concord condoling me on the Gurista's poofing of my Covetor
And that when I had just put three brand new shiny modulated tech 2 stripminers on it. Which I could not really use well since I had forgotten to learn the skills necessary to actually use crystals on them.

Hmm..
Lets see.
1) Accidently safespotting a barge and ejecting from it. Took a corpmate 1/2 hr and a whole lotta probes to find it.
2) Volunteering to tank for a corp ice mining op, then inexplicably exiting my client ten minutes in. TS convo:
Me: I just turned off my tank. Corpmate 1: (sounding confused) Just start your repper again mate. Me: No I mean I exited my client. Corpmate 1: Everyone out of the belt! Go go go, it's another Ampocalypse. Corpmate 2: Man you were way too calm there. You shoulda said get the **** outta the belt!

Very old forum post, gonna try bring it back alive.
Most Recent Noob Mistake (Beagle93 again): Some 'insert naughty word' promotes in local that he is selling a Caldari Navy Caracel for 60mil.
So he thinks wow, clicks the show info link, its the real deal. so setups trade, sure enough a Caldari Navy Caracel.
He buys another, for 70mil right after. I tell him to repackage them so i can fit in hauler.
"Why they called: Caracels?"
Beagle93 > /emote throws PC monitor out window.
He named the ships: Caldari Navy Caracel
Watch out for this!

Awhile ago, I finally finished training Battlecruiser 5, so I jump cloned up to empire to train the command ships skill book.
Whoops, 13 hours on my JC timer, no matter, "self destruct pod"
train command ships skill, then time to go back down to 0.0 to grab my shiny new absolution...
12 hours still on my JC timer, no matter, "self destruct pod"
Assemble ship... Make active... Hmm, why can't i get in this damn absolution Turns out that in my excitement, I forgot to upgrade my clone and Battlecruisers 5 lost a good chunk of its sp

1. Autopiloting 50 jumps in a cruiser with various wars live. No idea how far I got.
2. The usual "buy stuff then fly 10+ jumps without actually picking it up"
3. Went for a friendly scrap at a lowsec planet with a mate. Won, then promptly proceeded to warp straight back to the gate.
4. Losing a fully t2/faction fitted raven to a mission because a) I hadn't done it before and I aggroed the wrong enemy (whole last level of a lvl 4 extravaganza anyone?) and b) I was zoomed out such that I didn't notice myself stuck on a structure.
5. Using escrow to send a large quantity of minerals to another person in my corp. For free of course. The only problem was I forgot to specify exactly who I was escrowing to. 1 minute later, big "oh ****", presumably accompanied by some other guy counting his lucky stars that he checked escrow at exactly the right time.
6. I'm so used to clicking the ok button on anything that comes up as a result of one of my actions (I'm always having to reinstall, so all the damned "do you really want to do this" messages are a common occurrance), that I keep trashing things I intend to learn, or any other action that involves a button close to trash.
And some noobish things I've seen others do:
1. A corpmate flying a hauler 30j afk through 0.0, plus another 10-20 through empire with active wars. The real b*****d of it is he actually made it (ofc if I tried something like that every pirate in Eve would end up in my path).
2. Went into a fight out in 0.0 with a small frig gang. We find an assault frig, we pop it. Takes a while and we lose one guy in a destroyer, after the fight we're going over the usual kind of banter ("who got the killmail", "who got the pod" type thing) and one guy pipes up and says "cool I got the killmail". He opens his inbox, and finds his victim was our destroyer pilot.
3. A victim of mine had a mega-pulse equipped scorp. 'Nuff said.

Belt ratting in a PvE fitted Vexor in low-sec, got PvP engaged. Saw him off but I was a bit battered. There was a can 10km out and I thought I'd grab it before I left...just as the next PvP inclined individual jumped into the belt, finished me off and podded me!
12 mill cost of that can!! It probably had some 50mm Reinforced in it.

I was a few week old and was trying to make some profit with trading. Occasionally, there was a good deal to do with Zydrine or other high value, low volume minerals.
Then I somehow confused the buy and sell windows while checking the price of cap booster charges and thought 'WHOA! There is a crapload of profit to be made in this region' (yeah no kidding )
You guessed it, I emptied my wallet of its hard earned cash and bought enough cap booster charges to give a tropical climate to Pluto.
Otw to the station where I was expecting to make such a profit that I could pimp my ships so much that even the filmmaker of 'Fast & Furious' would cringe, I realized what i had just done.
I must have stared blankly at the screen for 2 minutes...

Hehe!
I had been ingame about 2 weeks and decided to try some PvP. I was trying a lot of things, PvP was just one thing I wanted to do that day.
So, go to low sec, pop in and out of belts trying to find another frigate to fall victim to my punisher. Found one! Lock on, scramble, unleash lasers! Soon, the victim dies and my very first PvP experience was a success. Now it's time to go check out the lvl 1 agent in station, forgetting that I have a 15 minute aggro timer. Warp to station, and....
Oops! LOL!

I'm no noob so this goes into the category of "just plain stupid mistakes". I'm tooling around 0.0 in my new shiny, black Sacriiege, T2 hardeners, T2 pulse lasers T2 repper and a hold full of T1 and T2 xtals. Come up to a gate and lo and behold a red minus assault frig just waiting to be ganked. I open fire and see 5 heavy T2 drones coming at me. Don't ask me how but somehow I mistaked a decked Domi for an assault frig. That was mistake #1. Mistake #2 was forgetting to turn on my hardeners before engaging in combat. Pop. His only comment in local "ehh?"

Last night i was ratting, some pvp inclined person warped in and scrambled me. He was in a techII frigate i think with rails. He starting shooting me and being a noob i was like oh ****. He was about 20k out so i hit the mwd and said "tally ho" in local. little did he know about the 4300hp or armor i had.
I was about 7k away about to teach about how blasters are used. My mouth was wattering for the kill. He then warps away, I FORGOT TO SCRAM HIM.

Ive done the usual dumb ass things heres a handfull of the worst in date order.
Fell asleep ratting in my Raven, obviously full of the best mods I could find since it was my money making ship, awoke 2 hours later to find a frig had final blowed me and my cargo can had vanished.
Left the game in December and didnt plan to return so gave my account to a friend and told him to do whatever he liked with it. He stripped my char down to 75k and a shuttle which is what I returned to a month later after discovering that there wasnt anything that gave me the rush that EVE does. Could have been worse though, he was about to sell the account.
Recently started an empire war, got so used to living in 0.0 that my overview wasnt correctly set. So Im sat in a gate camp in a 0.9 sys when we get a report that a solo enemy was coming through the gate, what I didnt know was that a -10 was jumping first, his background was flashing red to me......bye bye Harpy :( (-10's now have yellow background )

I accidently shot a Concord commander while clearing a Sansha spawn that a log had sent me to. I watched him slowly approaching as I finished the rats off then I lost my Omen when he got in range.
Oddly no other Concord ship joined in and I didn't take a security hit. This was back in 2004 though. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)
