Edited by: InnerDrive on 02/07/2006 06:02:01 Fighters are bugged right now when u lose connection to server for whatever reason(note drops, server crashes etc).
If u had any fighters on orbit with u they will warp with u to the spot ur ship warps to when u log off/disconnect (shoud be 1 million km away from the spot u actualy logged off at).
The fighters will remain in orbit with u till ur ship actualy dissapears from space, at this point the fighters wont know what to do and will become deadspace objects. Now when u log back on there will be no way to get ur fighters back unless u mwd for 50 hours in a ceptor towards them.
Is it possible to program fighters so that when their carrier disconnects they will all return to the carriers drone bay?
Deploy fighters>node drops/server crashes/disconnect>fighters follow u to ur log off spot>ur ship dissapears leaving ur fighters dead in space at the warp off/log off spot
Sit inside a pos with a carrier>deploy fighters>assign them to someone>node drop/crashes/disconnect>the fighters will become dead space objects very hard to get back with ur 100ms carrier
Fighters take 18 hours each to produce and cost 16 mil to produce, PLEASE FIX CARRIERS

According to the backstory, fighters are manned. I would hope I had pilots smart enough to at least fly back to my ship in the event power failed. Otherwise, why the heck would I bother training/paying them? --

I dont know how.
I dont know why.
But, five or six times now I've lost my fighters this way...
And, the next day after downtime the fighters appeared at my original spot. So if you can sit there until downtime the fighters should appear in your original spot. Twice the loss was petitioned, once the dev responded with What drones? The 2nd time the dev responded with gimme a second. And the 3rd time I never petitioned and it still happened. So.... I think its automatic at downtime. The first 3 times were all before December and the drones disappeared.
Could use somebody else who has had this happen to confirm my findings though.[/left]

i good solution would be for them to warp back to you as they should, they still have ownership on them so why dont they just warp to you? when you log on... have a timer on them after say 30sec if they are not assigned to anyone or you do not call them or give command dthen they should return to the owner
if your in another sys or docked they should just stay at last place
that would fix it IMO

Edited by: InnerDrive on 12/09/2006 00:54:32 This Bug is still there.. any chance its ever gonna be fixed?
Carriers will never widely be used with this crap :(
And its takin the **** at people that spend so much money on the skills and the ship itself.

If you pettition it a dev will give you back the fighters. If I'm not mistaken theres a command they can issue that puts every single drone in a system in your bay

I assume they can do it by individual item ID as well, but a busy dev will just give you them all

The prior posting is correct. You can recover fighters after downtime if you bookmark the spot you warp back to after logging in after a disconnect.
Just go out and scoop them up. The fighters return to the spot you warped from after a downtime.

this HUGE bug along with fighters not mwding back to your ship, and fighters chasing ships that warp off (the BREAKS carriers as far as pvp is concerned, a group of 4-5 battleships shouldnt have ANY problems taking you out if they got good damage) When they start to get hurt, they just warp, your drones will warp after them instantly, and you have no fighters for a good minutes or two while you frantically try to recall them... The only way to avoid this is to predict when the target is warping, or to have them warpscrambled. There needs to bea way to shut chasing ships off.

There are some work arounds.
Getting disconnected in a carrier, agress someone before you launch fighters, you then have the time of your agression left to get back online (your ship wont disappear when you warp off).
The MWD bug, you can launch say 11 fighters and 1 heavy/sentry, target that drone and have the fighters attack it, they'll mwd back to you. You can also do this with a can.
There is no work around with the fighters chasing, lets hope at some point they'll have a way to turn that option off. Fear the Ibis of doom!

Please clarify how to get the fighters back after disconnect again.......
If im at a ss and the fighters are assigned to gangmate and orbiting, or chasing/fighting a target, and I disconnect - you're saying that when I reconnect and come out of warp, that my fighters should be sitting there?
and I mean when I actually come out of warp after login, and not the spot I warped from after login(you cant cancel login warp).
Please clarify because I know this will happen to me one day lol.

In theory if you make a BM right away when you log in that is where your fighters will be. (Before you warp, but carriers are so F-ing slow you should have a moment to look around for them)

I can't bm fast enough after login.... I'm assuming you mean bm the point BEFORE you auto-warp after login. It takes to long to open my people/places folder because of all my bm's. By the time it's open, it'll be to late :(

no but you can bookmark the spot you appear back at when you log in, then warp back there after your login warp is finished.
