I've been trying to get an EVE CN account for a day or two because of the huge lag I have playing on the US server so I've been looking around and whenever I try to download the game I get directed to this site. I've tried the two EVE China sites listed on the main page and I get directed here, to the EVE US download. If there's an EVE China server could someone please be so kind as to tell me where I can download EVE CN from?
My problem is that I can't read Chinese so it's hard for me to understand what's written on the sites, however I do understand DOWNLOAD written in big letters and I do understand that I have to click the link provided on the site... which leads me to this site.
  Any help is mightily appreciated.

Edited by: Baldour Ngarr on 02/07/2006 14:37:38 If you're not in China, playing on the China server isn't (or isn't supposed to be) an option. It is exclusively for Chinese players.
*edit* Errr, players in China, I should say. ________________________________________________

u think the EvE US server is bad... you should try out the EvE EU server.. that one lags like hell. the EvE AU (australasian server) has been performing best.. it's www.eve-online.au to download the patch.

If I read the information right, the Chinese server is a closed server that has no connection to the internet beyond the boundaries of China.
For anyone else in the world, this is the only server.

I would have thought it would be clear by my question that I live in China.
But I will give the Australian server a try because I get dc every 5 mins now. It's really driving me crazy and I keep missing the bonus from my quests thanks to the dc's.

It was a joke. At the moment there is only "2" public servers. Tranquility which is located in England (but is the server for everybody in the world) and Serenity which is located somewhere in china and is only accessible for chinese ppl. Also, all the game is in chinese, if you cant read it, its not really interesting for you.

So basically I am going to have to put up with the DC's because EVE CN is purely in Chinese, that's great because I have a hard time playing CN WoW because I don't understand a thing and then the Chinese do this. Oh well at least I now understand why I get DC all the time, UK Net and CN Net... W00T!!!!!
But does anyone know if I can use the CD Keys from EVE CN in this game as well or are they for EVE CN only or am I going to have to email CCP support for this?

I just tried the link to the Australian server and it's dead, or I can't connect to it. Are there any other servers I could try and if the AU server is up it's China's Great Firewall that's preventing me from connecting. Could someone host the file so I can download it?

Sorry for the assumption. But now I'm confused, as well.
If you live in China, you should not be able to access anything OTHER than the eve-china website. I'm not sure how you managed to get here.
And yes, you're going to have major problems trying to play on the rest-of-the-world server. The Chinese internet wallahs don't allow connections to it, so if you can get on at all, it's likely to be a mess. ________________________________________________

There are tons of Chinese who play on TQ. The outside world isn't blocked from within China, only very specific websites. There is nothing stopping Chinese from playing on TQ except for the massive cost to play (very high due to exchange rates) and the lack of localization. And the lag.

My 8 year old daughter can speak Chinese but I can't simply because I'm too lazy to learn (you have no idea how hard Chinese is).

Including games which don't enforce a 5-hour limit on play, no? Isn't that the whole reason for building a Chinese server, because TQ breaches Chinese law? ... not that I approve of it being blocked, but I kinda assumed it would be. Or will be, at some point. ________________________________________________

I do know how hard Chinese is. I could never, ever learn it. One of my parents knows it fluently (learned it in College and graduate school) and I can say its definitely one of the hardest languages in the world.
If you're in China, you may have serious lag issues with any server in Europe. However, EVE doesn't require a lot of bandwidth nor does it require a lag-free connection to be playable.
I'd look in another place for the source of your disconnections.

I'm pretty sure China is not very liberal in blocking websites.
For example, IIRC you can access Western news sources from within China: all of them. They don't care, because most Chinese cannot read them in English! Thus, the ones they focus on blocking are the Taiwanese news sources.
Also, last I heard the law on MMORPGs had failed to pass.

That's possible, I don't keep up to date on matters Chinese.
But doesn't it render Serenity redundant? We could have them all on here and get even more uber-servers in London. ________________________________________________

Actually it was a 3 hour law but the law failed due to heavy lobbying from the game distributors. Imagine only being able to play WoW/EVE or other MMO's for three hours only and then not being able to play for 5. What's the point of playing? So the government here got lobbied and bribed so the law failed. Alot of the students we know stopped playing because of this law untill they realised it was false alarm and they all en-mass went back to gaming. This law could have meant the end of all MMO's and lots of companies in China.

  No, because:
  1. The lag in London is way too high 2. Chinese players need their own server, due to localization requirements. 3. The language gap would be basically impossible. 4. Other laws in China relating to censorship and the like.

You pwn man!! I'm not so bothered about joining a language channel, I'm more bothered about the quests and money. I mean items and weapons are all the same, I've checked it out but money and quests man!! SHOW ME THE MONEY!

little know fact - China has more English speakers than any other country. US is second with about 250 million. Holiding that title isn't really that hard when you have a billion people and over 90% literacy rate. ------------------------ The Almighty says this must be a fashionable fight. It depends what you mean with English speakers. I've taught some of my classes for two years and when I ask them now "How are you?" I get the response: "Yes" or better: "How are you?" back, but that's a different matter (laziness is involved). But as for the sheer amount of English speakers you're right.
