Okay, I made a booboo. I was in 0.0 space in a Raven. Didn't really have anything to worry about from other players, and I had just killed the rats in the belt. So then my kids start crying about something. I get up, beat them soundly and come back to the game. And wouldn't you know it, there's me in my egg. Curses, I said. But at least I'm getting the insurance.
Only I didn't. I got an evemail saying "your insurance was invalidated because it expired." But I got no evemail saying that it had expired! So I check the original insurance mail (I save them all for posterity). Sure enough, it had been expired for 8 hours. And a few hours after my ship's destruction, I recieved an evemail stating that the insurance on my ship had indeed expired. Talk about lost in the mail.
So the moral of the story: Don't depend on an evemail to tell you when your insurance has expired. Come up with a way to track it on your own. Selah. |

I seem to only get notices of insurance expiration when I insure a ship.

True you find out a ship has lost its insurtance. But I have ships spread all ove eve. Which they would tell me which one lost it's coverage.
PS you don't get an eve-mail when it expires. Only when you try to insure another ship. Sometimes I get 5 - 6 eve-mail saying some ship has lost coverage.

I think I must have gotten your notification, Devilish. My Rax's insurance ran out a week ago, and I got FIVE emails on the subject!!

I was just told by one of my more knowledgeable corpmates that you only get the insurance evemail when you stop at a station and check your insurance. I have no idea why. Maybe insurance agents are incredibly lazy.
And no, I'm not petitioning it. I'm used to losses. It happens every time I get close to 300 million in cash. I'm cursed. |

I once almost crashed because I opened the insurance window, you only get mails when you do that, and IMHO it's rather idiotic =/

Same here. Insurance expiry EVE-mails have only ever been sent to me when I open up the insurance window in a station, even if the insurance expired months ago.
I've lost an uninsured ship because of this before, petitioned it and got reimbursed, however I still only get the expiry mails when I open up insurance.
On a related note why is it that insuring a ship gets you a mail that tells you which ship you have insured but the expiry mail DOESN'T tell you what ship it refers to? Seems to me it would be about a billion times more useful to be told which ship ISN'T insured any more rather than which one you just insured, like 10 seconds ago?

It's a very stupid system. Not only do you only get a warning that your insurance has expired when you go to insure another ship, the warning is useless, because it just has a random number in it. So you have no idea what ship is no longer insured unless you check all of them one by one.
We get emails telling us that bills are due for offices and for when we haven't paid them, so I don't see why we can't have them for insurance as well.
