I would like to think I'd give it back but I can't deny I'd be tempted to just keep the isk as well.

Oh yes, far too tempting.
I'd thank him for his "tip", thank him for being a good sport and then post the entire thing on the forums for all to see.

Once, I ransomed someone. They didnt pay, and got mighty ****ed. I killd them, and got a crapload of faction loot. 5 Minutes later, i got convo'd telling me id have a big bounty on my head. Another 5 minutes passed, and no bounty, but my wallet suddenly got 90m put in it by the guy ---------------------------

I'd send back his ransom of 60mil and then put him in a pod, as he likly had a better setup than i was guessing only asking for 60mil. ----

Dont you have a small sense of satisfaction when you are being gate ganked, your ransom request not even acknowledged and then when you read the kill mail all of your good stuff is destroyed?

Difference between 600 and 60 mil is wayyy to much. If it's 10 and 100 mil then I may return it depending on what I ransommed and age of the character.

Depending on what the guy was like if he was mouthing off and smacktalking like no end id just say thanks for paying the ransom and move on, maybe make him boil for a few days then give back half if he was nice or sent a nice mail asking kindly for it back. if it was a polite person with a nice attitude and respected my ransom i'd gladly give back the 540mil and tel him to watch his typing.

For this game ransoming has got to be as stupid a concept as the bounty system.
I was podded a few weeks ago out in the catch and the fool that got me actually asked for a 100 mill ransom.
Pirates can't do simple math? My clone only costs 4 mill. My reply was an insult. I insulted him because he insulted me.
If any of you pirates get me in a pod don't bother to ask. You don't insult me, I won't insult you. Or your mother.

Ransoming is really only for those who don't care about killboards. Personally, I prefer hard currency over whatever may survive the big boom, but sometimes you can get lucky. Very lucky. --

I've had this before believe it or not. I had a zealot ecm'd, noss'd, scrambled and webbed in a belt. I asked for my nominal 25m ransom and he paid... + an extra '0'. I gave him his 225m back because tbh respect and honour > isk. __

I would probably take the money, and if the chat was still open I'd post the following
Quote: Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot, Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. We extort, we pilfer, we filch, and sack, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. Maraud and embezzle, and even high-jack, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. We kindle and char, inflame and ignite, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. We burn up the city, we're really a fright, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
We're rascals, scoundrels, villans, and knaves, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. We're beggars and blighters, ne'er-do-well cads, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. Aye, but we're loved by our mommies and dads, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.
Then I'd block him, because by now he's realised what he's done

Similar situation a while back when me and tekka were out hunting. Ransomed a guy for 25mil and he sent it twice. I returned him the difference, however with 600mil I'm not sure what I would do.
Tbh I would probably return it but force him to make a post about how great I am first.
Alternatively keep it for a bit and then send it back or keep it depending on his reaction. I.E. if he smack talked a lot then I'd keep it

He was giving you a chance to protect any implants you may have had. I'd pay 100 mil to protect a pirate implant set. (not because they are expensive, but because they are a pain to get)

Pirates ask for ransoms now ?
My last trip in lowsec was 10 months ago, I was scrambled, destroyed and podded without a word, on three different occasions, and by three different "pirates" ...
I would have been glad to pay a ransom and save my corp's stuffs (in my holds) and my implants, but I wasn't offered the chance ...

it depends. if the guy was smacking beyond belief, i'd keep it temporarily and ask my CEO what i should do with it (keep it, give it back, corp wallet, etc). if the guy was cool about it, i'd give it back (minus the ransom fee of course).

Another way to look at this question is, are you being a pirate to have fun, or are you being a pirate to grief?
The first keeps the game fun for everyone (whether the victim realizes this is another matter), the second just encourages borderline players to leave and bad mouth the game.
