Hey gents! So since the building cost changes, who's moving and to where? I'm guessing my highsec indy base in Penirgman isn't going to be making me much money any more so I'm probably heading off to a quiet lowsec area. Who's gonna stay and see how high the price goes, or has the mass exodus started already?
Also where are the most expensive production areas going to be do you think? |

While moving your base to low sec, in case if you produce for highsec markets, you should balance your potential profit agaist your potential loss. Soon after you move there, some pirates will apeear willing to pop your hauler. Moreover, distance from trade hubs takes much more time to deliver stuff. Time is money. So, as for me i'm staying in 0.6 quiet near to trade hub. Hope to get some teams in system and thus decrease costs)
But i you have access to nullsec sov markets, move there and produce there. |

Not sure where I'm going to move. |

Get some teams into system, decreasing costs, will attract other players to your system. Costs in your system will increase. You will have to move. Your Eve Industry lifestyle will become a gigantic pain in the backside as you constantly move around to get the best costs.

Or, you could find a system with very few moons and no NPC station services and anchor a POS there. You won't get the benefit of teams, but you will have guaranteed low install costs with little-to-no room for competition to come in and jack up your costs.
Better be prepared to defend that POS though.... Reading Comprehension: a skill so important it deserves it's own skillbook.

Don't forget people, everyone is in the same boat, but the markets have yet to adjust to the new manufacturing prices. A year from now 80k build cost won't feel like much, and the profit margins will be adjusting to take that cost into account. If there's no money to be made building that item no one will do it, and supply will be reduced until the market eats through the stockpiles and drives the price back up, at that point you can return to making those and make money doing it.
Don't look at the market right now and think "I'll never make money doing this." It'll take some time, but the money will be there. Believe it or not, in a lot of ways these changes will, in the long run, help the little guys more than it helps the big guys.
In the meantime, moving might be a good option, or building something different for now. |
