Hello fellow rock-chewers and ship-killers!
I'm currently in the market for a tablet for my workplace - a keyboard, mouse, and office-related applications (Microsoft Office) are all that are required.
THE QUESTION: I have lots of downtime at work occasionally but a laptop is generally too cumbersome and it has to be touchscreen for one of our applications to function properly. I'm looking for a tablet that could run a single client of EvE effectively. That or a very lightweight touchscreen laptop.
i.e. I'd like medium settings across the board and ship flight (particularly for PvP) to be nice and smooth. Budget isn't really an issue. I don't do huge blobbing or anything, just roams and solo mostly.
I'm currently looking at the Surface Pro 3 from Microsoft (the keyboard, though not included, is much better this time around) but I'd love to hear suggestions on any other potential candidates.
Thanks for input - fly safe! |

Oh no - I wouldn't use touchscreen for EvE...lmao...that would end ugly. Angry Birds on my S3 back awhile ago was evidence of that!
TY for input from all! |

Android based tablet - i.e. you'd have to do some working on it to get the EvE client on it. Would need larger version too - running EvE from a sim card doesn't sound ideal to say the least. I'm interested to see where this tablet goes but because of its design - notably my work applications may not be able to be integrated on it easily - probably not a good bet. |

Single client runs well at 1080p on both my Sony Vaio Pro ultrabook and my father's Surface Pro 3 at medium settings (both have HD4400s and dual core i7/i5 processors, respectively). Low settings and no brackets are probably needed for massive fleet fights, but both computers run the game stably for extended periods of time. Dual client is possible at low settings in emergencies, but the experience is not that great.
Only thing is that you really need a mouse to do anything in space though. The trackpads work fine for market/production/etc work but it's frustrating to use once you undock. Touchscreen is almost entirely useless unless you make the UI massive and even then it's tough to use for anything but the most rudimentary tasks
As far as EvE goes I'm looking at missions and mining as probably the most 'graphically intensive' items - I know market/production won't be an issue on just about any tablet worth some salt. |

TY! Very Helpful as was earlier information on some Asus tablets. Thanks to everyone for feedback! |
