So.. ME playing Star Citizen doesn't stop me playing EVE Valkyrie to get some fast paced fight at the press of a button to coop with teams. Allready play alot of different space related games. I swap as I want to do different spacerelated things. Also cruice around in ED.. Do singleplayer stuff in the X Games. RTS Spacegames.
None of these games mentioned give me the same experience. I might just use more time on other games than only EVE-O, Dust and Valkyrie.
Stop trolling SC :v SC is avaliable for 45$ to test out. Yep I've spent about 1K $ and is reaching my limit. My 10 years in EVE and DUST with multiple accounts is worth so much more than what I will invest in SC the next 4 years. |

Star Citizen, despite all of the money it has made, it shaping up to be a disaster due to long delays, confusing development goals, and feature creep. It's not going to dig into the Eve-O playerbase, and if by some miracle it did, it would only take the players that don't matter with it. |

The thing I like most about EVE is the fact that you can interact with EVERYONE in the same universe because there is only one universe.
As far as I know SC will, like Elite D be instance based.

Yes, EVE-V should be a part of EVE-O. No question.

Doubt this. This kind of gossip is based on promises and advertising by SC.
ED, SC.. yes they look great, but I dont see a valid reason to stop playing EVE. Of course CCP shouldnt take such statements for granted, but currently no space game shows me the same kind of immersion, that EVE offers already.

There is nothing to perfect on a dead system. DUST is clearly a failure and the leading part in this was the chosen system. Anyway, the concept shouldnt die because of this. I hope they learnt from their mistakes and will do better with Legion. |

1) Valk will not be linked to eve, they already said this. At launch it will be stand alone. They learned from the gimic of dust. However, i could be wrong and they might change their minds. Until occulus announces a release date, we won;t know for sure.
2) Actually dust is not a failure. Its now profitable. Thus not a failure.

I highly doubt that SC will do anything but help EVE Online. Star Citizen is nothing but promises, and most of those promises I don't ever see coming a reality. All they seem to care about is looks. All this time they have worked on how the ships look and you look but the actual gameplay they have released is in short pretty terrible. You played the Dogfighting module? Worst one I have ever tried in my opinion. No contest to Valkyrie.
In the long run the concepts might actually give CCP some ideas on how they could improve Eve Online. The more I hear about Star Citizen the more I am disgusted with how easy people are drawn in on just how the game looks. If you still think Star Citizen is going to kill anything from CCP you are sadly mistaken.
As for offering the games into one, I think in theory it is an awesome idea. However, I would prefer if they left them separate but connected. Story, and affecting the universe. I don't want to be forced to be able to only use one at a time. Sure they want to eventually have your character used in all systems, but It would be nice to have more than one booted up at a time. |

CCP won't release valkire till the 2015 summer ( iheard ) , i'm afraid eve-universe is to become more and more empty.....
What's StarCitizen?
To be honest I can't wait for summer 2015 with all these forces converging onto Provi. :D |

where's the matter to have a captain quarter if i can't board my ship and walk it from there??
i just don't get why all this work for expansions wich are no doubt cool , but somehow useless , cause the core of what is missing , is somewhere else.
This. You got the point
Omg, no. It's in the foundation of the Eve lore. Read about it, do your research and understand the concept and the ideology of the game you are playing.
Once you unplug yourself from the capsule or the capsule from the ship, said ship becomes non-functional. The feat of looking out from the cockpit is feasible if you are a typical human (or whatever they are in Eve now) not the capsuleer.
Essentially the capsule is used to eliminate the ships crew. It has no windows. The view you are receiving on your PC screen is from a camera drone circling around your ship. The weapon and warp sounds you hear are simulations to augment the senses.

None of these other games mentioned are single-instanced, single-shard games. Anyway, I look forward to Valk's release; CCP has proven that they're a smart company that cares about their player experience. I wish they'd give us an expected release date though.
If Valk EVENTUALLY did interact with EVE, making it something inconsequential like via Planetary Interaction, well, that'd be interesting. |

It scares me a bit how much a lot of the expectations of what Valkyrie is and what the product CCP keeps saying and showing us simply don't match up. They have lost their voice saying the focus (at least for the moment) is esports, and everyone keeps comparing it to games that share not much else in common other than involving spaceships and the explosion of said spacecraft. Can we just let each game do their thing without going on foaming-at-the-mouth-fanboism? The worst culprit seems to be the SC community sadly, to the point I have LESS interest in that game because of all the shenanigans in every forum for eve, or elite dangerous.
Yes we get it, SC will kill EVE (online AND Valkyrie). It will also randomly make Call of Duty players cry inconsolably, make Civilization players question their choices in life, make a deserted wasteland out of LoL and DOTA servers, and will also make you toast in the morning, cure cancer in the afternoon and tuck you in bed at night.

It's a CCP product. By the time something scheduled to release in 18 months comes out we'll be worried less about how expensive video game subscriptions are and more about how expensive the monthly on our assisted living facilities are.
That said, Star-Citizen is tactical + twitch timescale play, Eve is Strategic + Tactical. There's some overlap in the middle, but not enough for them to be in direct competition beyond people that only want the theme. And people that just want to play for the setting are the kind of people that Eve actively chases away with the new player experience, so not gonna see a lot of change there either. |

Zero interest in Star Citizen. The idea just doesn't appeal to me, even though I'm a huge proponent of more avatar game-play within EVE. I just don't want to have a ship that requires 5 friends online at the same time to fly well. In EVE every player has the ability to be AFK whenever they like, and it may weaken a fleet, but we don't have to completely stop playing. EVE is also single shard, which NONE of it's competitors can boast.
If EVE were to include things within actual stations that are massively multi player (not instance with 10 people) within the single universe it would blow my mind and deepen this game a thousand fold. But it's a huge ask. It's also something that Star Citizen doesn't even come close to since it's all bloody instanced.
Can you go to any trade hub in StarCitizen and count the EXACT number of traders there, online? Then kill the one you choose out of those thousands up as soon as they undock? Do they loose everything that they were flying when you shot them and can you steal it for yourself? Can he then put a bounty on your head, go to war and hunt you down to a secret wormhole where you have set up your base? Can he get revenge by destroying your entire space station and everything within it leaving you with NOTHING?!
Star Citizen doesn't even come close..... But it does look pretty when you ship spin (wait... can you ship spin?)
TL;DR Star Citizen cannot ever get even close to the size of EVE's universe even if more people played it. |
