Ishtar, drones skills?

Spanker	Posted - 2006.07.06 09:34:00 - [1] Hello, I bought an Ishtar yesterday for literally hundreds of millions of ISK. Then I started thinking... maybe my skills are too crap to use it? I can't use T2 drones you see, and my Heavy drone skill is at 4. Will I be able to use it effectively anyway or should I just stick with my Cerb or Zealot? Thanks - Shpank

Just fill the mid-slots with jammers and highs with nos and your poor drone skills probably won't matter :) Btw, get T2 light and medium drones ASAP as they are the sex and only need Scout Drones 5 (5 days) along with the racial drone skills. Drone were changed recently to act more like turrets, meaning heavies won't do **** to frigs and can be evaded by fast moving cruisers. Aeaus	Posted - 2006.07.06 09:46:00 - [8] Ah, for missions your skills should be enough. I think an Ishtar can easily solo LVL-4s with proper equipment. I find Medium drones effective for Anti-Frigate work with NPCs. My Guides (Recomended Reading)

In the context of running lvl3 missions (the OPs stated purpose), heavy drones are overkill. Mediums will hit both cruisers and frigs with better frequency. Heavy drones vs frigs and cruisers is just a useless time-sink when mediums will do it faster, and with less skilling. When you've got BS armor/hp/mods on a lvl3, time-to-kill isn't an issue. When you have cruiser armor/hp/mods on a lvl3, it is. "Maya Rkell is my online stalker."

Since you're comparing the drones to missiles and lasers, I'd have to recommend missiles, due to their versatility. If you've got the skills to T2 your Cerberus to the gills, then it's probably a better choice than the Ishtar for missions until you get those medium drones up to T2 levels.

I believe Drone Interfacing V only gives 11% dmg increase(somebody did calculations on the forums a couple weeks ago)
