Ratting and mission running is extremly easy in a raven, and very fast on top of that. Nearly half of all battleships in existence are ravens as far as I have heard, and I believe it, because pretty much anyone can use this ship with very few skills effectively. Also the raven is awsome for small gang PvP and 1vs1, and despite what people say one of the best long range platforms in the game if it works in conjunction with an interceptor or dictor that can keep the target in place.
The Scorpion is nothing short of ridiculously efficient. I would call it the single most overpowered ship in the game. Even though it doesn't have a lot of firepower it is the only ship that can dish it out over 220km range easily without having a single tech 2 mod on board using ECM. Scorpions are always welcome in any PvP situation, be it small gang or fleet, make no mistake about it, this ship is excelent. People will try to sell you the fact that people are so scared of it that they always try to shoot it down first as a disadvantage, but that just proves how good it really is.
With Kali they are supposed to get a dedicated gunship as well, which will mean that there will be absoloutly nothing missing in the lineup of pretty much perfect ships for any job.
The only reason why Caldari could be considered the wrong choice of race by anyone is because everyone who doesn't play Caldari thinks they are cheesier then a pizza quatro fromagi...

With the addition of a railgun sniper, there is no reason to train any other race other than Caldari unless you just like the looks/style of a particular race.

TBH its one of the best setups in the game. The sniping thing was never an issue tbh because you can always put a few turrets on a raven or scorp for long range. With the new BS there will be absolutely no holes or gaps in the Caldari lineup.
