I wonder if I'm alone in looking for a feature like this...
The cycle of a number of modules in quite important. Multiple reppers need to be staggered, individual ECM status needs to be monitored, scramblers and webbers need to be deactivated at the right point in a multi-target battle, etc. At the moment, the only effective way of managing this is to disable auto-repeat (creating a micro-management nightmare) or to try and keep track of module cycles in your head.
So how about a little timer in the popup box that appears when hovering over a module? Can't be a huge development problem (we already have visible cycles for some EW modules) and it'd make life a lot easier.

I'd prefer a small timer (like ammocounter has) instead of a popup box. Or even a small "led" which goes green/yellow/red depending on how long till recycle.

yes please.
something like a PIE chart, module starts green and fills with red untill cycle ends, then again starts green. ------------------------------ if you want peace, prepare for war ... ------------------------------ Removed due to offensive content - Laqum

I think starting red would be better... green means go, red means stop. So when u are ready to go ur module is green, after that while it is not ready to go it's red.

good idea... tired of staring at buttons waiting for them to stop flashing, would be good to have some numbers or just some indication as to when the cycle ends.

green - start of cycle red - end of cycle
the more red the more near cycle end. ------------------------------ if you want peace, prepare for war ... ------------------------------ Removed due to offensive content - Laqum

How about a small progress meter like the e-war effects one, but smaller?

Or a progress bar "ring" around the module in question? Click it, the ring goes red, then changes to green in a clockwise direction.

While I asked about this myself once and would welcome this, I was told "Think about the visual lag!" :(
Did you think about it?

Also (and forgive me for saying it )but this would also benefit all those mining types out there who have no idea how long into, or out of, their strip/ice miner cycles they are. Get them onboard and you have most of the eve player base covered...

The ring is what I have been thinking about for awhile now. I can sort of keep about 2-3 modules in my head but above that I'm lost. /signed

This would be especially helpful for modules with long activation times. Ice Harvesters, Strip Miners, Siege Modules.
Personally I think this needs to be put in, but in a way that doesn't clutter the UI, it has to be toggable.

Wow, that ROCKS.
My only suggestion would be that the edge between red and green needs to be sharper so that it's very easy to see with a quick glance. -------- Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk [04:21:15] Mebrithiel Ju'wien > Nik's bio 4tw btw [07:38:53] Graelyn > Nikolai for Dev 108!

You are not alone...
I like the idea of using the ammo counter style box the best, I think. Regardless of the method the devs decide on, something along these lines would be a wonderful thing.

I just thought I'd point out that given the number of red/green color blind people in the world, it might be best to use a different color combination. |
