Now obvioulsy the title is a fat piece of bait but as most of you know I'm pretty lazy with most posts I make but I thought this question could be a interesting one for a little while as EVE circle jerks for the summer...
So give it up, we hear all about "goon" this and that to describe just about anything these days in game but I gotta believe there's a line somewhere between a "real goon" and a "wannabe goon"?
Is there a date that defines your goonie status? Like if you were a goon before 2008 then you're part of "the club?"
Is there an event that allows you to sqeak a rubber bee proudly in a crowd and declair yourself a goon? Like Delve War 1 or Delve War 2? Maybe the Jita Riots?
Now I know your natural response to my post will be to circle the wagons and **** post responses which is fine but I think there are a few of you bees in here that got the answeres and aren't afraid to tell us, even though it will hurt some feelings?
Or, are "Goons" such a watered down version of what use to define them that this question can't be answered in todays EVE because theres no real "Goons" left in EVE?
Can you simply sign up for SA, throw a toon in any corp in GSF, and then start spouting of grrr goon this and that with the trade mark bulbous swagger of a battle hardened bee?..
We get that, by the way they post, just about every pilot in the other CFC Alliances would pay RL money to be a "Goon", but what keeps them out? What gets them in? And what gives them the right to call themselves a "Goon" after that? Time? How long? Scam someone? For how much? Or has being a "Goon" boiled down to just being a faceless bee in a video game about space diplomacy?
I'm getting ready to hit post and actually chuckling because the responses to this are going to be so constipated due to none of you feeling qualified or confident enough to answer this that its going to make for a good laugh...
Anyways........in before "Grrr Goonies", UMad, and my underpants just got super tight..

Ok since you're the first to step up to bat, swing, and miss the entire question of the post, I'll take you aside on this one while our goonies get warmed up in the batters box..
Why "grr goons", why not "grr CFC"? If it weren't for all the other CFC Alliances, Goonies wouldn't have a pot to **** in and none of the wars would have been won?
Goons didn't win anything themselves but when Goons talk about their accomplishments they typically ignore this. For this reason many non cfc pilots find it interesting that even the pet CFC Alliance pilots also chant "grr Goon" instead of what it should be which is "grr CFC"..
Anywhoo.....back on topic!!
(Side note, put a "FU" at the bottom of your post if this ****** forum ate your response and you had to type it again... )

Chuck!! No doubt you be a true "Goon"! But lets face it, there are waaaay to many players just riding the coattails of your accomplishments and reputation. Now obviously I'm trying to stir some **** up here but at this point who really gives a ****?
The state of EVE 0.0 is so ghay it deserves to be turned into a ghay snuff film..
Will the real "Goon" stand up? Will you step forward and define what/why you wanted to join? Will you draw the line in the sands of EVE history, stand on the other side, and yell "you shall not pass!" to those who walked easily over the wreckage of your struggle to the top in this game?..
Anyways, EVE 0.0 is in the toilet, you can continue to circle the wagons in a forum that long ago became irrelevant or you can cast those freeloaders out into the light where I will be standing, waiting for them to be exposed, and we can stand side by side as judge, jury, and executioner...
What makes a real EVE Goon a "Goon" ?

A substantial portion of the Grr Goons crowd can't actually tell the difference between Goonswarm Federation, GoonWaffe, and the CFC. It's all just 'goons' to them. |
