Yesterday Team MS101 from True Creations was auctioned for 1,005,000,028 ISK. Does this set a world record? Probably. Unfortunately, CCP never released the price for the winning bids except to the players who joined the bid.
So what's special with team? It can readuce the materials requirement of the large class ships. More specifically, it can reduce
6% materials for Marauders, 3% material for Black Ops and 2% for all T1 battleships.
The price for using that team is 8% of job installation costs. Given the fact that the winning system has a job index of only 0.01, it will increase the cost by only 0.08% of build cost. Now you see why this is indeed a GREAT team!!
BTW, solar system Anjedin has won 18 teams so far! This is a system without any an NPC station. Something bid is definitely happening there!
The following is the mail I received from CONCORD concerning the auction. ( Yes, I joined the bidding intentionally. ) All the information except for the winning price can be found in Industry window.
Team Auction Lost From: CONCORD Sent: 2014.07.28 11:56
Your bid on True Creations Team MS101 was not successful. Anjedin had the highest bid of 1,005,000,028 ISK. Your bid of 1,000,000 ISK will be returned to you. True Creations
Team MS101 is now available for hire in Anjedin. |

That's not true.
Several hours before the auction ended, the price tag already went up to 500M. So the winner intentionally raised the bid to 1B.
Go to Industry window and see for yourself. There are other teams currently in the auction process. The highest one I can see ATM is 400M. (You can sort all teams based on auction price.) |

Except that this is S&I, and I'm pretty sure that a high percentage of the readers / posters are the "live and let live" type.

There have been a few really "overpriced" bids on teams I've noticed so far...
Oddly enough another Marauders manufacturing bonus team went for 250m to some backwater lowsec system and quite a few 500m plus bids for Capital bonuses, which seem fair enough.
Would be nice to see the maths of how many marauders the system would need to build in a month just to cover the cost of the team though...
I'd expect it it to be in the hundreds for such small benefits - I feel the bids are almost all way over optimal right now for actual cost effectiveness for the novelty factor at the moment. I'm sure in a few months most of these teams will be unemployed or costing way way less.

Around 20-25 Vargur to cover the cost of the team. The rest is all gain. So, if they build a lot of Marauder and Black ops and Battleship, they will be able to profit from the low Job Index of the system and then from the bonuses of the teams (and probably from the bonuses from multiple labs and assemblies).
Next month they will move to another underused or just unused system and repeat the auctions and the process (the job index in the previous system going thru the roof).
Send a fleet of grievers into the system, but I hope they are very well prepared, because there will be a lot of resistance. |

My 100m team already saved me ~280mil, during the single day I've done Crius S&I. 1b is not that much. |

It's higher than I would pay, but it's easily believable that for a producer more than about 4x my size it was underpriced. This is where the game is headed.

If they build their own components it's about 4 marauders to recoup the cost since they would be making about 225mil profit per ship.

When you place bids they are additive.
If you placed a bid of 500mil, then a competitor places a bid of 510mil, if you post 520mil down it will raise your total for that team to 1020million.
Working as intended?

That's a bug, I believe. I've noticed that my bids are often added to the current bid or inflated beyond anything I can figure out on the differences between current high and my bid. I filed a petition about 5 days ago and CCP hasn't even opened it yet. "Blow it all on Quafe and strippers." --- Sorlac |

Because you could just add in a bid for 20 million, and take the entire system bid up to 520.

For the layposter, this means if a system populations wants a team bad enough 50 people can put in 20 million, there by paying 1bil...

Saw this coming. As prices are fast approaching their real values, the concept of picking up bargains is fast evaporating. For the time being you're going to need to make a real valuation of a team, wait until microseconds before the auction ends, and see if you won. I just lost one that was well above my valuation (thankfully not in my region), and won two that were peanuts. A sniper rule however won't protect you from a fatter wallet.
