Originally by: Finix Jaeger Adding Hero, one of the most beatiful filmed movies I've seen.
It is in my must-see list, but I've been saving it for when I have some company with me.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is also good. Same goes for House of Flying Daggers.

I don't get it, how is forrest gump a sad movie? Requiem for a dream is more of psychotic than sad. Freaked me out in a way that se7en did, not in a sad way. Here's a go, can' pick one of those 3:
Johnny got his gun (learn suicidal tendencies in 1hr) I can't believe I'm the first one mentioning this movie. Awakenings (mmm, one can call this too corny) Dancer in the dark (the bad habit of identifying with the hero is a one-way ticket to depression)
I am sad to point out that most of the films listed in this thread are of the last decade.
Ooooh, oooh, saw someone mention bladerunner. If you really get into the film, and really understand what's going on, it can be one of the saddest films ever.

dunno if it could be classified as a sad movie as the ending is positive but some storylines are quite sad.
Magnolia (one of the best movies i ever saw)
if not... maybe Brazil

That on was REALLY visually stunning, also.
My favourite film... but I still think Moulin Rouge was much more of a sad film.

I was watching Watership Down a couple of years back with my then girlfriend and began to start getting tearful BEFORE the end as I knew what was going to happen. I've never lived that one down. In fact, I feel sad thinking about the end of it.

Even though it's not a sad film as such I think the end of The Terminator is a little sad.
It's the part when the little boy takes the photo of Sarah Conner and it's the very same photo that Kyle Reece had in the future. The reason I think this part is sad is because Kyle Reece told Sarah Conner that he had a photo of her once and that she looked a little sad and he wondered what she was thinking of at that moment.
Well she was thinking of him. So The Terminator wasn't a Techno Sci-Fi Thriller, it was a weepie that should have starred Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. ___________________________________________________ Serenity Prime Is Recruiting |

Somewhere in Time
There are a couple of scenes in this film that have me crying my eyes out EVERY time I watch it.

Agree to Dead Poet Society
Also Life is Beautiful, I found that to be somewhat saddening.
I know there are plenty of other movies that can jerk tears but somehow I can never call to mind any movie I've seen based on an idea like "it was sad" or "it sucked", memory flaw I guess.
But there are movies that can make me cry, yes. ___________________________________________

Hmmm
About Schmidt
City of God (I'm Venezuelan, this movie reflects the sadness and cruelty of my environment pretty well, even if the movie is Brazilian)
Das Boot
Amores Perros
And a ton more of South and Central American make and origin, wich never quite make it overseas hehe, there are quite some drama/sad movies here.
