Signup for the Amarr Imperial Succession Championship has started. For rules and more details go to the player website, myeve.eve-online.com under "Championship". Signup will continue until Friday the 9th of October, followed by a week of voting and then the championship will begin.
If you are Amarr, be sure to sign up an choose the heir you wish to fight for. Non-Amarrians may try to persuade their Amarrian friends to be wingmen in their groups. That is to say if the selected heirs allow infidel intruders in their sacred ritual.

Sorry about the double-post, but I had a question that I don't think has been answered yet and probably should be before people start clawing over each other to sign up. How is the TIME of match being organized? I can see this becoming annoying, when two teams are scheduled for a match where the team leader for one of them is snoring away at 4 in the morning, or is in a meeting at the office.

I can just see it now, where a sizable percentages of fights are simply won by default because his fight was scheduled at an entirely horrible time simply because of the timezone difference. If the time they planned on setting these things were known NOW at least some people will have an idea of whether they should even bother.

Each house will have combat times centered around a particular time of day. See heirs for more info. So if you live in Australia you might pick another house than someone living in Andorra. We are aware that this may cause people grief as combat for their favorite house happens when they're supposed to be at work / school but this is an attempt to balance things out for the different timezones ( or people with inverse waking hours ).

It will not take place in regular empire space, eh? Does that mean one could partipicate with low security status... say, -5.0?
That is if i'd actually get a position as a wingman of a champion, but still.

There is no security status or CONCORD in the Arena where the match will be held, but combatants must travel to the Amarr system ( 1.0 I belive ) to get there. If they survive the journey, they are allowed in.

Though there will be an issue with time zones in the "Final Championship between the houses". But I guess the players who proceed that far will be very keen to continue these matches, and would make an effort to work that out... If I'm in a team that proceeds, I'd probably be available at any time of the day

Another big issue, which I hope you've thought of:
The voting must be limited to ONE VOTE PER ACCOUNT.
Otherwise, I'm very sure there are people who will create alt->vote->delete alt->create new alt over and over again to vote for themself. Would be possible to place 2 votes every 5 hours...

this looks like alot of fun but i have a stack of questions, what if splash damage from a missle destroys someones pod does that disqualify someone? what if one team has the full amount of 4 fighters and the other team only has 2, will it be 4 on 2 or will only 2 members of the team be able to fight? and if this is to be a true RP event then maybe it should be each race has to pilot their own races ships.

Dunno that... A kestrel isn't doing any good if a Griffin or Vigil target jams it... hmm, well, perhaps they would still kick ass with FoF missiles

might be wroth considering that the number of "spectators" (press, judges etc) need not only to be limited but also to be constant so as to keep an even playing field in terms of potential latency etc. (within reason and where possible obviously)

So:
- Can we fly other races ships or is it Amarr only ??
- How long do we get between rounds to fetch new ships, equipment & ammo ??
- Do we have to provide EVERYTHING ourselves ??
- Are we limited to 3 Wingmen or can substitutes be brought in/on ??
There will be many more Q's ...

I realize there are already quite a few questions here but I feel that this is also an important one.
I noticed that only the participants, the refs, and select reporters will be allowed to view these battles (be physically present in the skirmish system.) I assume this is simply for lag reasons, which makes perfect sense.
This seems to be one of the first major instances where the storyline is affected so greatly by the players. (From a RP perspective this is a very uniqe event in that one of the empires is gainning a new leader.) My only concern is that this event will leave the majority of the players out. When I say this, I do not mean that we should all be able to participate in the battles ( that would be ridiculous.) Rather, this seems like it would be the spectator event of the century both from a RL-Gaming perspective and especially from a RP perspective.
I was just wondering if there will be any steps made to "broadcast" the event? In otherwords: Live/recorded video made availible to players and possibly a read-only chat to view the setup/battle conversations? It could easily be that the lagistics of this would just be way too much, but I felt I should ask anyway.
P.S. Awesome art there t0rfi! Something as simple as that poster adds a great deal to the game. It's nice to see this kind of 2d art. It reminds us all that there are more places in the universe than just a camera drone orbitting your ship. It's also nice to be reminded that we're more than just driver's license pictures. We actually have bodies, with arms and legs and everything! |

I'm presuming that there will be full coverage of this event. Live coverage via the boards in space would be groovy but I imagine lag will rule that out. Be nice to catch a video of the event. Many different cameras ready to capture pretty much all of it then have a crew ready to edit to a final production.

No news yet as to race restrictions on ships, but IMHO allowing Amarr vessels only would not only be appropriate from an RP perspective, it would make things more interesting tactically.
If not, I foresee the great missile boat championship.
