i wonder if he gets arrested for assault? always wondered if stuff like that on the field can get you arrested. Anyways, i was hoping france would win. France blew it when manager bought henrey off. Viera came off injured, then zidane pwned the italian. 3 best players off. I think ribery came off too? not 100% sure on that though
I think the manager will get blamed for the loss.
Anyways. If Zidane did get racist abuse hurled at him, the italian player could also be looking at a long ban, as fifa as stated they will have non of it, whether it be players or crowd...

What I want to know is how much they paid the referee against Australia.
It's a good thing I didn't watch the game, would've had trouble keeping anything solid down.
Remind me about The Maze.

We could start with myself following an EF summer english school in Hastings, UK. In that nice city placed on the southern coast of England there was a joyful practice named "Hunt to the Stranger/Italian". It kept place on friday nights, when the happy inhabitants of the city, fully decked out in booze, used to visit all of the public locals and tear a new one to the strangers. If you happened to be Italian you got double ration of hits in your faces/body because "You are a ******* Italian and you deserve to ******* die". A mate of mine ended up in hospital with an arm broken, another with scars on his face. In the same year, the same practice in London caused an Italian dead (knifed) and another with his balls squished by a nut*****er.
Then I could go on with work experiences.
I used to work as a bartender in a touristic location, and I cannot honestly remember all the times that I have been named "A ****ty son of an italian *****", or that I have been told that we "are a country of starving bastards, that we should thank the tourists that bring us money so we can feed the *****s that we marry and all of the sons of the (aforementioned) tourists", that we are "an inferior race", that we are "like the 3rd world, no, worse, like the 4th world". I have been spitted in the face by people who obviously felt superior. We have had our local destroyed by hordes of foreigner drunkards twice, as they wanted to "kill all of the italian bastards".
And this did not come from just from drunkards or teens. Several "mature" people behaved in this way.
I am grown up and I have more stories, would you like to know them? - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Boooo to Zidane, now he can write a best-seller greater than the "Da Vinci Code": "HOW TO RUIN YOUR WHOLE CAREER AND REPUTATION ON YOUR LAST SOCCER MATCH IN FRONT OF THE WORLD". Grats to our team defence: Cannavaro - Materazzi - Grosso - Zambrotta!

Bleh. I can't say I like the French. . .back when I got to visit Europe with my family when I was about 15, our stay in Paris wasn't fun. French people like Americans even less than the norm in Europe. However, with the way the Italians played. . .can't say I really liked them either. Then you find out that they're all a bunch of arrogant cheats and you like them even less.
Congrats to Germany for being a great host nation, tho. Nice to see some countries can show some class. Deutschland. |

Zidane is a man like any other he don't do things like that usually , i'm sure materazzi said something that he really really not appreciated...But hey look he waited the 110th minute to give to materazzi what he deserved... If i were in Zidane's shooes i would aim his noose Im just a little disappointed because France deserved to win this world cup.
Ps: Zidane did not screw his legacy with that , it's like saying to a mancunian that Cantona screwed his legacy by aggressing a supporter who insulted him...Even if they are professionals they have feelings just like you.
Pps: Somebody should say to portuguese team before next competition that they play on a football field not in a swimming pool...

zidane is a legend, the guy is grace skill and power, everything the perfect footballer should be, what he did was wrong, we all know that but everyone in life does things they regret at some stage, im sure zidane would admit that after the red mist had settled that he made a rash decision.
but what about that penalty he scored, thats some ballz to chip a penalty in a world cup final

I hope that Italy will win. But after that accident (Materazzi vs Zidane) - i changed my mind.
Loads of respect to Zidane. Ofc it was stupid, to leave your team without captain, but he did like a true man.
P.S. Unfortunately - dirty tricks always had place in sport. Verbal assault - and enemy team got -morale.
Congratulations to the rest of Italian team, who was true gentlemans on the field. ----------------------------------------------- Logged in a system, next to you =) |

Are you kidding? Seriously, they should just let the italian team play in high heels and stockings and get it overwith. Never seen a bigger bunch of a fairys in my life. I bet they sit in the dressing room compairing designer handbags after the game.
Zidane should have aimed for his nose, and given him a stomp on the face when he was down. ______________

Yes you can, if Materazzi wanted to press charges police would get involved, heck they should do anyway but since this is the world cup final and zidane no doubt nothing will happen.

i think i can reply here...
not much probably, as one of the italians got a quite inappropriate red card leaving the team in 10 for more than half the game.
also even the penalty france got vs portugal was quite similar to that one, basically 2 clumsy defensive attemps that the opponent exploited...
also how about the penalty france got yesterday? quite out of place imo with the guy that seemed to take off even if no one touched him

Edit: in the end this all is unuseful to everyone, so the "kid" (ty buraken, but those years are long gone and anyway if judjing from first hand experience makes kids off people, then I don't know what to say to you) is out of the thread.

No, I'm not kidding: that headbutt was terrible.....I mean, wake up kids, this is not rugby, it's called "soccer" and it has precise laws about fairplay. In my book anyone who thinks Zidane have done the right thing yesterday evening, along with Zidane itself for that infamous headbutt are just: LOSERS! Anyway, and again:

lol nono they showed that in slow-motion 3-4 times and from different angles (i think that actually the production for the event is the same so we basically see the same images)
the french guy was alredy jumping when the italian (probably) touched him, if you look at it closely is quite evident imo.
also i had no problems to say that the penalty against australia was out of place so is not that i have "italian glasses" on

Ah you have to say that the french player got his heel clipped. Sure it wasn't deliberate on behalf of the italian, and he even seemed to be trying to avoid making contact. But non-the-less he DID make contact, and so it was a penalty. It was a fair decision IMO :)
As for the headbut, man what was he thinking? Head down and bull charge into the chest? Pathetic! Seriously, he must have known that he would get red carded so he should have made sure that the Italian player couldn't continue the match, after all they had used up all their subs by then. Broken nose/jaw/smashed teeth would have been better :P
And yes, that last bit wasn't serious....
