I like GM Arkanon. I wonder what flavour he is?
I guess this is a symptom to the "petition it" culture. Do people get punished for 'abusing' the petition system?

Originally by: Nexus1972 In fact what should happen is more GM's and some sort of Service Level Agreement for petition response at least. Heck half the time by the time a GM does get back to me i've forgotten what the original petition was - I cannot remember any petition being resolved within 1 month for me.
Okay, but the players petitioning have to be tied to a similar agreement. If they abuse the petition system they should lose any accounts they control, and I get their stuff.

Originally by: MrTripps How someone uses the petition system depends on the resources of their character. When I lost my Brutix (game froze right as I engaged NPCs) I was pretty ****ed about it. Not only was it a 25mil ship plus some expensive mods, but it was 30 jumps down into 0.0. At the time it represented about a third of my net worth. Since then I've come into plenty of ISK and moved up to battleships, so harping on a lost Brutix a month ago seems pointless. That said it does reflect poorly on CCP. What would happen if I sent them a note that said "Sorry, m8. Can't pay my subscription this month. Let me know if that is a problem, won't you?" Something tells me that I would be getting reacquainted with Counter Strike.
Mostly I'm ticked the a good part of the industrialized world gets to take the month of August off and I don't. Yes, I would like some cheese with my whine.
The petition system isn't there to bail you out of hard times, it is there to compensate you for things that go wrong, and that are CCP's responsibility.

Who said it was? Making the game work is CCP's responsibility. If the program crashes and a player loses something of value as a direct result (in my case about 12 mil worth of insurance and mods) it should be replaced.
Only if the crash is CCP's fault. They don't control your PC, or your internet connection. If something goes wrong and it is outside of CCP's control, tough.
Petitions like "Ohnoez, I lost my CNR because my router blew up / net connection dropped / house got struck by lightning/ I fell asleep / my graphics card exploded / the game acted in a way that I didn't expect (but correctly)" should not only be denied, but the person petitioning should be warned / banned / hunted down by ninja goldfish.
If it isn't CCP's fault, why should they compensate you?

Tell us you didn't petition because an exploit didn't work.
