Hi
Is there an actual parser for combat for EVE online ?
I was thinking of something like ACT or Recount.
Thanks a lot |

Thanks for the link.
Yes thats the kind of tool I am looking for.
It is too simplistic, although the info it gives is accurate.
I was looking for something more like this:
http://advancedcombattracker.com/screenshots.php
For instance ACT have plug ins for EverQuest2, Star Trek Online, Age of Conan and others.
There are other good parsers but for me this is the best arround.
I find it odd that in the game in which ppl dedicate so much energy with the "Perfect Fit" (paper dps) there isn-¦t a good tool to give you the "real dps" information.
Anyway thanks again. |

There are so many variables that such a tool would, in the end, be useless. Optimal ranges, tracking speeds, falloff, signature radius, damage types vs. resistance of enemies, blah blah etc. |

ROFL
And a DPS number in EFT or in the game fitting tool or some numbers scrolling in the center of the screen are usefull ?
I bet almost everyone pay attention to them.
Will it make me invincible ? Provide me with a winning solution all the time ?
No of course not
Will it give me more awarness on how combat is resolved ?
Yes certainly.
I think that due to the way the log is created ,you do not see other peoples results there unless you are shooting them or them you , you cannot have the usual Parser "Mine is bigger than yours" DPS race and post the results for the fleet to see how good you are. nobady really care about this.
But personnaly I think it can give good information on your own fights, and that what really metters.
Im not a programmer, wouldnt know how to start doing something like this, I use na excel sheet sometimes but it takes ages to see through a fight, I was hoping someone would develop something better.

You missed my point. It's useless because, even though you may be tracking your damage output, the parser would give you no idea as to why certain things happened. The log data would be pointless, because you wouldn't be able to tell from it if your damage was reduced by being out of optimal, being in 1.5x falloff, the target's transversal being slightly higher than your tracking, or a particular enemy just having a brick tank against the ammo type you were firing. |

Yes the infomation in the log is far from complete.
But still can give you insight on what is working well and what is not. |

Yes that looks good.
I tried Eve Combat Log Analyzer but it seems not able to read the log files.
Probabbly the program is too old and something changed in the logs. |

I am on my phone, so I am unable to find a link for you but if you google eve-hq that will get you halfway there. The developer for evehq made it but he doesn't support it except by request, so send him a mail and he might shoot you a copy of it.

Because you can't "simulate" actual DPS, as you never know how, what and who you are fighting.
Hence ANY form of simulation is by default already inaccurate and thus useless and can only give you an 'estimate' on it.
The best you can achieve is log battles that already happened and see where you can improve, but predicting is not really possible with all the possible fits you can encounter.

Back at home, EVE-HQ has several tools built in to help you negotiate your chance to hit a given target based on size, speed, distance and angular velocity with a given fit. Image .
The Eve-HQ Dev, as I stated before, has been very helpful in getting a working product that filled our needs in the Incursion community, I would expect the tools he already has available in Eve-HQ fitter might be all you need, but if you still need a parser that works eve-mail the Dev 'Quantix Blackstar' (Might have spelled it wrong) and see if he can send you the updated Parser with the right variables assigned.
