Im experimenting with the Prophecy. Im bored and have a about 100mil to spend for fun. So heres my goal. I know command ships are bred for this, but I want to try and make the Prophecy as good of a tanker without a 1600mm pate as possible.
Then whatevers said, ill just throw as many Heavy Pulse Laser II's as I can and some Med NOS's and see how well it can PvP...
Go...

Uh, proph is just about made for 1600mm plates. I dont see why you have to object to them but here we go:
Low: 1 Med Rep II 1 Kin Hardener II 1 Therm Hardener II 1 Expl Hardener II 1 Rolled Tung 800mm plate 1 Internal Damage Control (or whatever is best named)
Med: 1 10mn MWD II 1 20k Disrupt 1 Fleeting Web
High: 2/3 Med Nos and the best guns that fit
Drones: 5 Light Expl/Kin Drones
Ideally do the same but with a 1600mm of course - - - - - - - - - -

Well essentially I meant no armor plates at all, figuring if I said 'No 1600mm plate' you would all assume that means no armor. Either way im more drawn to 80%+ resistance over armor HP.
But ill try it because its all for fun anyways.

If resistances are your thing, try replacing the plate from Zhaine's setup with an Energized Adaptive Nano II.

Why the heck do ppl insist to fit MDW/AB on the two slowest ships in the game, the Maller and the Prophecy. Its neither effective nor neccessary.
The heavy pulse lasers are the best mid-range turrets in the game, no doubt.
So fit:
Hi:
Hvy Pulses + NOS + a Smartbomb to kill drones/stupid inties
Mid:
Cap Injector with 800 Web Scram
Low:
2x Energized Adaptive Nano t1 or t2 (train the armor comp skills)
1x good named damage control, giving you up to 80% resists depending on skills alltogether
1x Plate of 800/1600mm OR medium repper t2
2x tracking enhancer
Bay:
Light Drones
With this setup, you will warp faster than any stupid MWD BC pilot, have enough energy for the medium range guns which have now awesome tracking even at MF crystal range thanks to the mods, and sport an awesome tank that has its own structure funtioning as an additional plate.
If you feel really twisted, you can swap the tracking enhancers for inertia stabalizers (yes, its THESE modules), making you turn and warp faster than any other BC out there.
Dont try to fly BCs with MWDs, these ships neither need em nor are they good with em, MWDs just gimp your setup on a Maller/Proph. ________________________________________________
Just a quick reminder that "Local" and "Instas" will always be what they are. |

If you use the plate there instead of the MAR, then is a cap booster really necessary? ___

Genesis Gunner High's 6x 220 Vulcan Auto II 1 Diminishing Nosferatu
Mids
10MN MWD (yes i like to control the range) Medium Cap Booster (800 charge) X5 Prototype Engine (Web Stasis)
Lows
Kinetic, Thermal and Explosive hardeners II Medium Repairer II 800 Steel Plate II Adaptive Nano II
5x Warrior II Drones
Mostly for Mining defense and gang defense where you can change the x5 in the mid for a Warfare link of your choice (given you have skills for it, although it is also viable for Anti pirate operations.

But ultimately one of those 'pulled from the ass' setups, because there's no way dual MAR II is going to sustain for even a short period without a cap booster.

try:
6x Focused Med Pulse II
1x Web 1x 20km Scram 1x Med Elech Cap Booster
1x Med Rep II 1x Rolled 1600 (just use it!) 2x Energise Adaptive Nano II 1/2x Heat Sink II 1x Damage Control (for better tank drop the heat sink)
Although its not completely geared to tank, it works well as the dps isnt too bad (i think i calculated 300¼ with my skills) and plate really helps with the resistances it has. BC 5 comes in handy too ;)

Highs: 4x Focused Medium Pulse II 2x Heavy Pulse II 1x Named Medium Nos of choice
Meds: 1x named 10mn AB 1x Fleeting Warp Scram (20k) 1x Medium Electrochemical cap injector (800s)
Lows: 2x MARII 2x EANMII 1x Named Damage Control of choice 1x Heatsink II
5x ligh drones of choice, would recomend warriors though.
This setup does reasonable dps while having a tank that many battleships will find difficult to break. If you are fighting people who tend to ***** nos you can trade the Lasers for 220 Vulcans and swap the 800 charges for 400s.

Can I borrow your magic wand please?
You know, the one that magically let you start a battle at medium range.

What in gods name are you talking about? Do you know how agility modifiers work? Battlecruisers get a 1.1x agility modifier thus fitting a plate has a large passive effect on the agility of the ship. Also the increased mass the MWD gives is only in effect when the module is active so your point is moot. Now I'm not going to argue that a proph or maller should use a MWD because you don't really need one as Pulse lasers are mid range unlike blasters however not fitting a AB is a rather bad idea as the prophs damage greatly increases when it enters close range.

If you're using an ACproph, use 220s instead of 425s, they're better.
Highs 5x 220mm vulcan II (carry both types of T2 ammo, 2 x med diminishing nos Mids AB II, best named web, fleeting warp disruptor Lows MAR II, 2 x EAN II, internal force field array I x 1, 1600mm rolled tungsten x 1, cap relay
Drone bay: 5 x warrior II or 1 x Berserker SW-900
The warrior IIs are obvious, but the Berserker SW-900 is actually more useful than it may appear-- the prophecy is sluggish regardless of whether you fit a plate or not, and being able to web someone farther away until you close in and slap a double web on them can be useful in many occasions.
Two nos and five guns in my experience seems to be the best mix on a prophecy-- 5 guns gives you significant firepower still, and two nos will drain a cruiser's cap pretty quick. Click here for something interesting concerning D2 and Sparta! |
