That basically sums it up.
As it stands it's great, but there's plenty of room for improvement.

Are there will be written commentaries ? Galaxion of Black Nova Corp did awesome job during last tourney. Dude, we need your service very badly
Let me explain. For 1mb of used internet traffic - i`m paying 5 cents. I heard, that broadcast running on 460kb\s speed. That means, that i`ll be paying 1$ per 3 minutes, roughly. Unfortunately, i don`t **** bilionaire`s daughter, so - basicly tourney is closed for me, and all i can do - is watch @ results.

Funny how there's always some smartass coming from I don't know which sorry black hole and pretends enlightening the masses with his omniscience.
Why don't you start with a tiny nugget of common sense ? Taking into account that this wasn't an exercise people train daily for, it was done very decently.

Personaly thought the entire thing was amazing, realy enjoyable, both myself and my wife were sat on the edges of our seats and loved every minute of it.
If we were to be critical the only things I'd say are in need of improvement (bearing in mind its freaking awesome as it is imo) would be....
The camera work was good, but the picture was VERY dark,
Commentators got a few things wrong, but no big deal realy, made it amusing more than anything,
The camera guys/commentators need a different ship, the one they have is just FAR to fast and as happend alot they end up double clicking which is EASILY done and fly off in a random direction losing locks, in fact give them something with a kind of siege mode so they can lock themselves in position so they cant move.
Other than that was awesome, oh wait, one thing the wife and myself got a little upset about was the timelimit thing, we thought it was quite unfair that the tempest on his own managed to stay alive untill the 15mins had passed and they allowed it to continue, then again with the famous heavy tanked raven, that guy deserved to have won a draw surely.
We know the rules state that extensions can be given etc, but why even bother having a time limit if its going to be ignored everytime?
Sorry to have even typed a moan about the event in any way because frankly it was amazing, wasnt realy interested in the tournement AT ALL to start with untill someone almost forced me to log on, then we were hooked, reason for no interest is the allowed use of ub3r implants, makes it more like most ISK = wins tbh, and also provides a BIG boost to the shield tankers.

I'm loving the tournie setup - for people who are just keen volunteers how they are doing is absolutely fantastic.
I've hooked up the computer to the TV - 32" explosions FTW

Wathed this for the first time last night, and as a free addon to an already great game, we really shouldn't complain.
But why have Stavros in the post match discussions ? He openly admitted last night that he hadn't been engaging in Fleet combat for ages, so he had nothing to say about setups or tactics.

Sure there were mistakes made, but all in all they did a far better job than the commentators at the first toury.
That said, it would be nice if the footage were brighter - I had my monitor brightness cranked up all the way and it was still too dark. Using something slower than that yacht - say a Megathron with 7 1600mm plates - for the camera ship might be an improvement, too.

I really enjoyed it and I think as the folks involved get more experience and confidence the quality of the show will improve alot.

actually ET, it's 460 kilobits per second, not bytes. that's a factor 8 difference, so you would be paying roughly 16 cent per minute, or $10.10 per hour. and believe me, it's worth it!

Think your all being a little picky to criticise them for the few misunderstandings they have had. The whole setup is 10x better than last time, eve-tv is superb and looks surprisingly professional :P
Will be torn between listening to this or the cricket over the weekend. YES I HAVE NO LIFE.

So far i think eve-tv is doing great, a huge improvement in announcing from the last tournament. I like the custom client that shows both teams side by side. My only gripe is you can't really see much but they got better at that as they day went on with some good camera work. Oh and I was suprised none of the commmentators didn't know a thing about morsus mihi and really didn't give em any respect. Need a commmentator from the northern regions.

The point of it is to entertain. Who gives a rats arse if there are some inaccuracies when it was fun to watch and a heck of a lot better than the last one. Besides, laughing at the comments adds some humor the the proceedings The streaming was smooooooooth and the audio crystal clear.
Keep it up guys!

Edited by: Crellion on 16/07/2006 00:15:11 Edited by: Crellion on 16/07/2006 00:14:22 Eve TV is great.
Still I wouldnt mind them getting one of the competitiors (on a day/time they are not competing) to provide commentary and some insight on what is happening and why.
I saw today a poor close range Vampa domi getting webbed out of range by a Rapier or Hugin and they were wondering for like 3 mins "what is his tactic" then one of them explained that it was webbed and couldnt use its mwd to get in range (despite being webbed) because it would waste a lot of cap
I am not saying what they are doing now isnt absolutely great but adding a player who pvps regularly in the team would help further...

Edited by: Koronos on 16/07/2006 02:28:17 Well, that's why we get the experts back in the commentary room after the fight. Tbh, as long as the djs can keep the targets locked and keep the custom display going so we can see health bars for all ships, we're golden. And, they are getting better at those two, so it will be okay. ;)
Koronos
edit: one nice thing for the future, next tourney or whatever, would be to have the tactical overlay so we could see ship ranges. In the infamous webbed domi event, I gathered from the fact that the domi wasn't doing anything and IAC had a rapier that that was what was happening, but there were only a couple of seconds of footage where I could really _see_ that that was probably correct. Anyway, just something that would be fun to see down the road.

Edited by: Moghydin on 16/07/2006 04:12:30 Don't know if it's the problem on my PC or many ppl have this, but when I see a battle and a camera is at some distance (like at the beginning of the fight), I can actually see a battle. But when camera is going for some close ups, all I can see is a series of screenshots, which hardly can be called TV feed.
