??????????????????????????????????????????????
No.
The commentators screwed this one up too. UK had every one of their ships on hand. The issue was one of the UK pilots was late / lazy (in the words of UK) and while the MC team sat in the match area for 10 mins, waited for the guy to finish fitting his ship.
The match started with both sides having their full allocation of pilots and it lasted just under seven minutes. From all accounts, we had one of the shortest matches of the day and suffered the loss of our Sabre.
Respect to UK early on for offering to fight one man short, but they had a full team when the match started and it was a good match. -

Thanks, m8. Nice reporting. -

You're right, m8. My current fitting is crap compared to what I'd normally fly such a ship with. TBH, I feel naked in my CNR without my Gisti-X mods and poor Larsson cries constantly about being "limited to T2". -

Quote: Ushra'Khan could only field four players making Mercenary Coalition¦s job somewhat easier but they still managed to lose a destroyer in their victory.
Okay, seriously, this has gone beyond annoying.
WHAT TOURNAMENT ARE YOU WATCHING??
It's one thing to **** it up here, but now the official news?
"still managed to lose a destroyer"?
In addition to the losses being negligable in terms of ISK, the fact that we actually have the BPO's for every single ship we are flying (minus the CNR ofc) just means If we lose both frigates in every match, I could care less.
So could every other team out there. They are fragile little things and the only reason there are matches happening with 0 losses for one side is because thier opponents are hopelessly inept.
I'm with Tyraxx - if you are going to actually REPORT on this, how about waiting a day or two and actually speaking with some of the team members instead of posting up inaccurate and faulty information? -

Santiago, I appreciate you taking the time to reply like this and I'll freely admit to taking out a lot of frustration on you. This is due, in large part, to situations where the in-game news either has failed to mention an event at all or gotten it so wrong that it might as well have been fiction.
As for the timeliness of the reports, the in-game news is infamous for taking ages to report on things. I commend you for getting through whatever red tape exists m8 but I think most people would have preferred at "Weekend Wrap-up" than a quick daily summary. That's just my .02 isk but it would probably ensure more time to verify the accuracy of the information.
In terms of time, interviews with the participants of these matches are relatively easy to obtain. A lot of us are in the #EVETV channel on IRC or in-game for a while after our matches. I would love to see more input and feedback from the pilots in this, either in the news or on these forums.
We (MC) have waited over six months to field a team that is more accurate of our performance than the disaster of the last tourney. WE came here to win and we've been listening to this "MC beat a crippled team" nonsense for two days now. So, yeah, you caught a lot of that frustration and I'm sorry if I came down a bit hard on you. -

TBH this is not you at your best, Seleene. Everyone knows MC is rediculously wealthy. Everyone knows that gives you an advantage both here and in real pvp. To say that being wealthy means you can't get any negative press coverage, no matter how minor, is a bit over the line. You guys are a great pvp outfit. No need to fuel the class warfare fires by claiming that owning a lot of t2 BPOs makes you immune to criticism.
My point still stands tho - the frigate class ships in this contest are not really deciding factors and all of this "flawless victory" crap is a bit much. A win is a win in my book. As for my mini-rant you quoted... yeah, just write it off to me being more than a bit upset at the time.
Overall, this event has exceeded my expectations. Now if Stavros will just drink the two year old Quafe... -

Originally by: Jim Raynor I think destroyers and frigates are important in this, they're just obviously the easiest and most expendable units on the field, but still I think if you think outside the box they're rather useful.
Of course, Jim... if they live past the first 90 seconds. -

Originally by: Crellion I have some interesting points to make here Seleene but you ll excuse me if I make them after the tourney for now allow me to just register my disagreement
M8, I am the absolute last person who needs to be told the value of frigates in PvP, etc... But insofar as this tournament is concerned, against a competent team, a frigate's life span is negligible. ThatĘs my only point.

LOL!!! I swear if it comes to it, I'll just order Coug to self-destruct today in order to keep the tradition going.
From what I understand, yesterday our Flycatcher's orbit was set around 40km and the target of that orbit was moving on the vertical plane. This pushed Coug out of the match area and... *pop*! Oh well...
Good luck today to everyone. It's been a lot of fun not only to participate but to watch as well. -

Dalman, tbh, I'm dissapointed that other teams have commented so little on their matches. If my post comes accross as smack, I'll remove it. Hell, I wish ever team would do something like this. Stats in an event like this are cool and there have been very few of them posted.
As for the SA match, win or lose, it was the highlight of the opening round for us. I hope we do meet again in the final. Re-matches in something like this = excellent drama. -

Against ASCN, we came so close to fielding a Huginn, but decided to stick with our normal setup for a couple reasons.
We didn't know if ASCN might switch out to Rails, in which case the Huginn would be useless and we'd have gimped our DPS. After considerable debate, it just came down to one thing:
Most of all... we wanted a FIGHT!! Win or lose, MC will always take a good, up close brawl over the math of who could do what. We trusted in our tanks (yes, all three of our main pilots had full crystal sets) and in our damage dealing ability (22 million SP in missiles & 7 million in specialized gunnery) to alpha strike through ASCN's repair ability. We came damn close to doing just that.
The decision to call the Deimos primary was a good one but, as has been noted, we should have called the EOS or switched to it sooner. Even when the ASCN ships got into NOS range our ships were doing fine. ASCN drones were popping like mad and Larsson was cool as ice as his Cerb just soaked up everything.
The linchpin of the match was so simple: the Eos' tank was broken. It was dead as fried chicken, but as it sat at about 20% armor and structure... I had to reload my launchers. The timing was critical and I knew it was over at that moment. We missed our opening to finish the Eos and Larsson's tank was finally breaking. As I opened up again, the Eos hit 60% armor and Larsson exploded about five seconds later.
Hindsight is always perfect, but I take nothing away from ASCN. They had what is possibly the only setup in the Torney that could have beaten all of the planning and ISK we poured into this and we still came within a hair of pulling it off.
When we beat [5], we knew we were going to be in the Final with BoB or IAC. We also knew we could beat both of those teams as we'd spent the last week planning out every detail possible of a fight with either of them. Win or lose in the final, our confidence was soaring and we wanted a BoB vs. MC final more than anything. I won't say we underestimated ASCN. We didn't. I just made a bad call on when to switch fire to the Eos. Such is the nature of combat.
The fight was high drama and a fitting end for our run. I was damn proud of the fact that we went toe to toe with Kozak's team. Even as I realized we were going down, the sheer spectacle of all the explosions, NOS and the drones just swarming all over the place... I still have a big grin on my face. Nothing else can even begin to compare to this game!!
The entire tournament was AWESOME and I'm very curious to see what the next one brings. -
