If they have to remove modules in tourney rules to prevent them from being abused they are obviously overpowered for regular play too and need nerfing/removed.
I for one absolutely hate ECM, Sensor Damps and NOS. I've said it before and I'll say it again - anything that prevents a target activating modules will be abused by the playerbase. So far I haven't been proved wrong.

Removing ECM would require a MAJOR overhaul of several ships, not to mention wtf do you do with the skillpoints ppl have put into EW? How would you feel if CCP all of a sudden removed certain weapons? I know I'd be ****ed off if all of a sudden my T2 hybrids were gone. Just like I'd be ****ed if all of a sudden my alt couldnt fit his scorp with T2 jammers.

Same thing that should happen if they come to their senses and remove all the learning skill and give everyone +10 to their attribs - skillpoint rebate. When you login, the skillpoints you had invested in the skills that were removed are counted up and put into a big pool. The pool is divided into primary/secondary attribs. You can then use this pool to insta-train skills with the same primary/secondary values.

Edited by: Sarmaul on 16/07/2006 20:52:59 Edited by: Sarmaul on 16/07/2006 20:50:07 Sorry, that reply was to the "omg wtf will happen to my sp" post :). I don't think ECM needs to be removed, it just needs to be rebalanced (same goes for nos and to a lesser extent damps).
And yes, the only way for a Tempest to beat a Megathron is with the Multispec of doom, which is why if ECM gets nerfed the tempest needs a boost or I'm loading up my mids with tracking disruptors.
Edit: Or, ditching the nos and fitting siege launchers as torps 5 finishes very soon :)
Edit 2: Unnerfing hail would help too.

Remind me again why the long range race needs to move quickly?

T1 Moa is useless?
EDIT: Besides, Moa need some loving though. May be 6/5/3 slot?
Remind me again why a T1 Moa, a ship designed for sniping, need to move quickly?

Yes that is quite odd. Same with the recons, you'd think the amarrians want webbing bonuses to catch those Vagabonds and other stupidly fast ships and the Matari would get Nos to shut down Amarrian cap.
Best I can figure is that ships are designed with NPC pirate factions as well as empire racial enemies in mind.
Except AFAIK warp scramblers have absolutely nothing to do with Gallente. The best ones are Domination ones, same as the stasis webs which come from the Angel Cartel faction, i.e. Minmatar.
TBH I find it strange too that the Amarr and Minny recons are best suited for taking down their own races ships :/

Originally by: G0rbag Just wanted to register my vote NOT to change ECM in any way in the game.
ECM is like anything else, you make sacrifices to use it (skills, mod slots, etc) and you make sacrifices to counter it. There is nothing magic about countering ECM. There are a ton of ways to do it. In a current corp war I'm in, we had a good first few encounters due to our ECM, but the next few were not so good as our enemies adjusted and mounted ECCM....
Those who say ECM isn't fun just are choosing to ignore the dozens of ways to counter it or don't feel like they should have to counter it.
One of the things I really like about Eve is that the PVP is not a pure strength slug-fest (like so others). There are lots of ways to win an encounter, not just shield strength and damage dealt.
God you are so wrong - even the devs are looking at ways of changing ECM as it requires very little SP investement for a very big advantage.
Also, lol @ "dozens of ways to counter it". The best way to counter ECM is with more ECM, which officially makes it overpowered.
