I'm very disapointed that these guys have not done their homework on the alliances involved in the tourney. It seems like beyond the big 10 alliances presant, they know nothing about anyone else.
I don't expect them to know about a 10 man alliance that has no presance in the game, but seriously, they've had over a month to do a bit of research on the rest. It's very disrespectful to those alliances that are getting called carebears and shrugged off from day one.
Either they're doing because they truely don't know, or they are showing true disrespect for those alliances. I can understand that coming from the guest on the show, but not the host. There are plenty of simple ways that they could have researched who everyone is and hardly taken away from their game time.
By next weekend, I truely hope they get their act together over there and look like they have a bit of a clue. Beyond watching the matches, it's been a truely dreadful experience watching the show.

I would like to say that the other commentater (Not Xod) really does not know much about Pvp (He specifically said "The sleipnir, now thats a hybrid ship (faction) Is it not?" =( ---------------------------

Edited by: Flipidy Floo on 16/07/2006 23:24:35 Heck, half the time, they don't even know armor from shield tanking ships.
Point is, get a clue about PvP and alliances before undertaking a task that involves knowledge of both. It makes you, and the people you're commenting on look bad. It's like saying "BoB, who the F#*@ are they".... A lot of people don't enjoy listening to people who don't have a clue.
So either stop doing the interim game commmentating or get it right.

Given the effort that's been poured in in other areas of this amazing broadcast, we can surely forgive any perceived research deficiencies. If any alliance feels they have been disrespected by the pundits, then the best way to effect revenge is on the field of battle. In fact, this has already happened. Pundits offer opinions, not absolutes. And the job of the host is not to offer opinion, but to effect the pundit to reveal theirs'.

Zap, as unfortunate as it is, most people would rather trust what someone else says rather than believe what they see. So when you're getting disrespected, even if you do well in the tourney, you efforts are diminished.

I think the only point here is the lack of research although i can appreciate and im very grateful for the hard work , but it does seem some of the peolple on the couch only really know whats happening in thier own Alliance , Its like saying im from the USA but who is this country called United Kingdom :)
Just a quick 30mins reading up on the alliaces before the days broadcast would be nice:) but as ive said before Great show keep it up (always room for improvement methinks)

Its true that the presenters dont know every alliance well and they dont know every fact about every ship but I for one have really enjoyed the EVEtv this weekend. Its been casaul, enjoyable stuff where people have put in tonnes of effort to put together a feature I've never seen for another game.
Interviews with various CCP groups, talks about different ships and tactics and a variety of guests. Not every alliance is well known and some are hard to research on cos nothing is known about em. Keep up the good work, I really enjoyed it :D

The pundits aren't there to give political commentary, they are there to analize the pvp tactics of the teams, everything else they say is irrelevant.

I've enjoyed the 3 days ove EVE-TV so far greatly watching pretty much every minute of it. I love the pre and post match commentary. I think this is a major step for CCP, the eve community and eve-radio. That said there is always room for improvement. The announcers do mess up here and there but all in all its been improved upon from the announcing of the last tournament and the camera work is being done very well. The commentating has been mostly interesting and entertaining. A few things that could be improved upon though is showing more respect for some of the alliances out there. Forum wars are one thing that shouldn't spill over onto EVE-TV.

Lets be honest though, the majority of the participants are identikit alliances who have either been created for the sole purpose of getting into the tourney, are 100% carebear and have accepted a couple of PVP corps who want to fight in the tourney, or are one of the masses of small 0.0 alliances who do nothing particularly important besides move from region to region failing to claim any space and failing to make a proper name for themselves and will more than likely be knocked out in the opening round :)

Personally i think Eve TV has broken an as yet unbroken barrier in terms of the MMO - that is providing meaningful televised group PvP MMO competition online in (as far as i can deduce) real time and free of charge to the viewer. Whats next, fleet PvP?
Yes, their info may be off... But personally i have found the discussion from all involved; guests and presenter; edifying. All i can hope is that CCP exploits Eve TV to its fullest not just for the $$$ of course but for the game.
Game on

Beyond just MM getting called role players, Alliances like RISE are unknow, even though it's a recent merger of FA and NORAD. Trust has been called a Resurrected dead alliance even though it's D2's second team, just as The 5 is supposedly BoB's alt team. Now either us guys in MM know a lot more about what's going on in the tourney by chance, or these guys are just clueless.
And yes Hillaxu, how do we war dec Eve Radio?

The original poster does have a valid point. The information presented in the show and the opinions voiced will have a dramatic influence on those watching who do not know otherwise. I believe, unless otherwise corrected, the opinions stated will be taken as truth.
Because EVE is a very political game where Alliances need good loyal players, if they are shown in a bad and untrue light it can be very harmful. Now if they were able to be bribed with ISK to make certain statements or could be sued in game for slander it would be a different story.
It is still a great program in all formats and watching the battles. I would just prefer the commentators and hosts curtail their comments to factual statements, not personal opinions.

Exactly, `your problem`.
I have found it to be pretty darn good. Nobody is perfect, but as standards go. They just set the mile-stone and a fantastic one at that. Given the technicaly aspects involved and they got slashdotted, the streams were pretty remarkable.
I personaly was impressed with it overall.
If anybody also doesn't like using microsoft media player I have found www.videolan.org VLC to work a treat and was even able to easy set it to capture the stream (with transcoding to compressed codec) so i could come back home later and catch up :).
So sorry disagree given all factors or we might as well complain the streams wern;t in HDTV and wasn;t able to yell orders to the cameraman. But hey there's sites for that sort of thing and they demand a credit card.
Once again, totaly enjoying the experience, content and commentary.
Weee suggestion, if there lacking in intel on alliances then YOU are able to go onto irc and tell them what they dont know. Often easier to just fix the problem than talk around it like its a black hole I found.
