Hello EVE players and CCP forum moderators,
This is a message to those in the company that handle the visual aspects of EVE, rather then game balance. Please understand that I am a new player, and am coming at this from my impressions over the last few months.
while looking through at the ships I have flown, and going in depth with the ISIS system, it is clear to me that there are definite 'eras' of hull design, and graphical complexity. The most potent representation of this is the Destroyer classes of ship. Each major faction has two destroyer types, and I have noticed that most have distinctly one which looks like a more complex render then the other. As far as I understand, a second destroyer was added later, and generally it shows.
Playing Amarr, I will use the example of the Coercer and the Dragoon, No matter which one you 'like', it is cleat to me that the Dragoon is a much richer 3D model with better definition and cleaner textures them the Coercer.
The difference is even more staggering with the jump from the Dragoon to the Arbiter, which is clearly a much older design. The side 'armour plates' on the Arbiter, which clearly inform the design of the spaced armour plates on the Dragoon, are much bulkier and have less detailing. the look much less like a functional part of the ship, and have a much more polygonal 'stuck on' look. When you move up to the battle cruisers, and useing the example of the Prophecy, I am seeing serious problems where the level of model detail and texture mapping definition makes the boat look like a fairly indistinct blob.
Given some of the examples of strong model design, such as with the Dragoon or the Caldari Corax, it is clear that EVE can handle more complex ship models. I would like to see CCP go back over their older ship models and upgrade the existing ship designs, Perhaps calling them 'refit' designs or something.
What other models would people like to see updated? |

1. Arbitrator 2. Several minmatar ships, as well as ships like domi and vexor. 3. honestly with all the problems eve has atm, this is low on my list. Probably the same for a large amount of people. As a warning you will probably be consequently flamed for no reason.
Just that hint of cynicism the world needs now and then. |

Well, there is no reason to flame this, it-¦s jsut been done already over the years form the beginning, so it is a pointless post, that's all. There are sometimes creative events, idea competitions etc ... people are constatnly presenting new designs on the different platforms. To say 'hey I noticed they could be better' means youa re just behind about 10 years with your observation. Are you sure your issues aren't elsewhere ?! |

Barghest
Actually the entire mordu's line is too friggin' blue and need a different paint job and more detail work as well. They honesty seem to stick out too much when you compare their looks to the rest of EVE. |

It was explained at FanFest that the Mordus line was strongly influenced by Skunk Works and the planes they designed.
That being said, the only ship in the line that looks like it might remotely "belong" in EVE is the Barghest. The Orthrus is completely terrible in every way and the Garmur, while a very nice-looking ship, feels too present-day fighter-jet.
Regarding OP's post, the art team is constantly working to update ships. Right now they're working on ships that need significant remodeling first, such as some of the more questionable frigates (the redesigned Atron art is pretty amazing) and the T2 ships that are visibly identical to their T1 counterparts except for color. |

I actually like the design of all Amarr ships, though alittle update to the Armageddon wouldn't be so bad |
