Seriously tho, I like you tikki, your fun to fight. Yeah, mad props to the D2 folk that have been fighting. Minus a few smackers (and all alliances will harbour a few, so thats not a criticism) , D2 have been stand up guys, and fun to fight. Never mind the forum warriors.

Honestly though, wars like this are the thing that seperate Eve from your typical treadmill meaningless PVP MMO, and I continue to enjoy the conflict.

This is a really awesome thread Tikki, and I'd just like to echo what you've said. Forget the forum warriors, the Cloud Ring conflict has been fun and highly interesting. That's what EVE should be like, and I thank D2 for the experience.

A while back I decided never to post on these forums because no good could ever come of it. I'm going to break that rule just this once and say that the past couple of weeks have been the most awesome of my EVE career so far. This conflict has taken me from being largely bored of the game to the exact opposite: skipping out of work a little early and staying up late to keep fighting.
This has been an excellent fight and the tone of the occasional chatter in local is completely at odds with what the bitter forum warriors have been spewing the whole time.

Agreeing with Zeiros' skepticism about this particular forum. Every thread about ever war between every alliance seems to drag the beauty of Eve down to the gutter of Counterstrike. But that's fine, you can play the game all you want and never read it.
Anyway, I wanted to post this in the thread that got locked, it's a quote from the goonfleet forums and it's beautiful.

Great thread, tikki. All the smacking and shortbuses full of retarded alt posters aside, I think both sides have a mutual respect for each other. The XZH campaign has been hands down the most fun I've had in my eve career. Nothing else I've participated in has even come close. I remember the day it started. I was puttering around s-u popping rats and generally being bored with EVE, and then the news about cloud ring came over the channels. It was like that scene in Starship Troopers where the announcement of the bug meteor comes over the airwaves and all the sudden you've got two thousand rookies charging across the parade ground shrieking 'War! We're going to war!' at the top of their lungs. Everything since then has been a blur of bloody, violent, no-holds-barred totally awesome PvP.
Anyway, best of luck to all parties involved, and I'll see you on the battleplanes of Cloud ring.

Having started my EVE Career basically living in S-U with my VS-UK corpmates, I've been shooting goonies since well, err forever.
Good fun all around. Wish they'd prevent alts from posting in this section of the forums, there's some D2 and Goon alts that make us all look bad. :)

Goonfleet has always realised that it owes a great deal to its enemies. Every goon begins life in hostile space, learning through bitter experience all the survival techniques of 0.0, from simply keeping an eye on local to the endless complexities of working together as a team to defeat those who roam Syndicate in search of ganking without the security hit.
In that spirit, not only would I like to thank D2 for putting up a fight in Cloud Ring and the north, but also for taking the fight to us in Syndicate, as all goons cannot comfortably live out of POSs and safespots. Verily, I am even grateful for those members of D2 that took the war to these forums, for they have fueled our nerd rage, causing the greediest of carebears to lay down their strip miners and pick up their mega beams.
See you on the next battlefield!

After fighting along side Goons (as a member of Sparta - ATROX. -I will miss all the good ppl there)I can say that I have nothing but <3 for them.
While hard to describe, Goons seem to have a very unique attitude; sure they are pleased with what they have achieved in such a short time, but I can't see them ever being arrogant 1337 *****s about it. They are too aware that it is just a fun game for that, and yet they are still willing to put a ton of effort in. The Overmind or whatever, has complete dominance over their minds and they gladly participate heavily in furthering their causes. Heh.. it is awesome to see such high participation .. especially after seeing so much of the opposite.
Goons are funny as hell, and at times their chat channels are down right insane, but in all fleets I've been in with them they are disciplined and their commanders are good. As goofy as they are, they have many many mature intelligent members. Goons will just keep learning and getting better. These guys have my respect through and through. Others in the Eve community giving them the props they deserve is nice to see.
While there is tons of **** not worth getting into with Sparta's leadership and demise, and the general reaction I felt from most former corps is that they just want to go back to being residents or leave for empire, I can happily say that myself and other individuals strongly disagree with this flip flopping and do hope to join our friends in or as Goons. The Sparta leadership made some maddening frustrating decisions.. but in the end at least I got to see which group I want to be part of.  (yes, prior to all this I believed all the forum crap and disliked them intently  )

I personally enjoy fleet battles, if not for the lag then for the fact that they can often have a decisive outcome which small engagements can't really match, so thank you d2 for providing those.
Whilst I think that the pos war is a sad thing for it to have come to, I think that neither side has accrued any shame for it. Ships are a dime a dozen but a POS is a statement that you're here to stay; thus a pos war suffices to underline each alliances determination - something praiseworthy.
I can't say I enjoy being ganked in s-u whilst i'm trying to make some money (Mogwai and draken shugar, i'm looking at you), infact I quite dislike it- so congratulations to d2 for achieving their goal in that area!
That said, this ganking made me frustrated enough to start getting gangs together and leading them myself and I've found that; whilst scary- leading a successful gang OP is the most satisfying thing i've yet to do in the game, and much love to goonfleet that two month old newbies such as myself are as welcome to start and lead gangs as the next guy, as this opens up a whole new dimension to the game.
I'd also like to give a shout out to The Arrow Project and Freelancer alliance as they've not been mentioned in this thread yet, but have shown themselves to be mature opponents with a great sense of fair play and some excellent skills.

I too, have had an immense amount of fun. When this whole war started by accidently shooting the station (we have BAD ADD), I had no idea how big of a situation it would evolve into. Witnessing and getting in on some of the action convinced me to keep my EVE payments going and to train skills for the long run. I'd bet it's safe to say that In the 2.5 months I've been playing EVE, I've seen more action than many 1+ year old characters.
Without GOOD enemies, such an experience would have never been possible, and I may have let my subscription cancel. Much thanks to D2 & company for giving me someone I love to hate, and something to strive for ingame.
It did suck having to watch bitter alts smack all over these forums giving all Goons a bad name; while we had to sit back and watch out reputations become tarnished, it really made most of our members' blood boil. Hopefully, now that we've been unleashed to Eve-O forums, you guys can all see we're not the mouthbreathing trolls that alts make us out to be. Here's to our love-hate relationship - so it can continue to fester into more pew pew, explosions, and loot.
