While moving a cyno alt through low sec yesterday I jumped through a gate and saw the 4 flashing guys in local before the grid had loaded. I immediatly thought "great I bet they are camping the gate I'm coming through " and indeed they where, but luckily they where shooting someone else who must have come through a bit earlier. So I could just move on my way undisturbed. When a few months ago I tried to test if you really can reach another gate by just microwarp driving from one gate in a very fast moving cap stable frig, I left the PC alone and came back to a killmail. It seems some guys probed me down and outran me to catch me. Must have been very determined to kill me.

Warp to 0 was the first big hit to gate camping that I remember, and the second big one was invention and the reduction of T2 prices. Ganking combat ships in low sec simply doesn't pay well - less than Lvl 3 missions perhaps, where before you could expect juicy 20m cap recharger 2s on a regular basis. Ganking industrials can be very profitable, but it's easier done in high-sec. All of this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just mainly a reflection of the fact that most people's equipment fits are very low value these days.

Go -5.0 at least and try it again, I guarantee you will die much quicker. That or fly something worth risking the guns, a T1 hauler, a cruiser, pretty much anything but a T1 frig really.

You will always end up in a system somewhere, where? well that depends on your calculations. You can calculate to get to the other end of the universe but you can only warp so far (depending on your ship), and youll have the cool down affect etc to work with.
