Works for me
A minimum member count on creation might be a good idea to. Alliances with less than 50 members should be a corp not an alliance, as I post this there are about 69 alliances ingame with less than 50 members.

i don't see why people care if there are more alliances. If they can afford it maybe they want ease of setting standings? That's like complaining that there are too many corps being made, it's really none of your business if he wants to create an alliance.
With that said gl earth guys

Eh, keep the fee at 1b, give the newer players a way to band together legally.

So many people seem to want to kick away the ladder after they've climbed up.
The alliance fee should be lowered to 100 million isk. Anyone who wants to contest space and set alliance standings should be able to without some artificial, arbitrary barrier to entry. 50 guys in frigates with enough isk to buy a single large POS should be able to go and set it up in some backwater system and stake a claim.

There should just be a minimum of 100 unique accounts and say 3 corps to start an alliance, any exsisting alliance not able to meet these requirements will be auto dissolved 'by Yulai convention .... yada yada'.

Try setting standings towards alliances when you're in a corp. Try claiming sovereignty with a POS when you're in a corp.
I do realise this is apparently (at least partially) coming with Kali, but until that day in the distant future, 1bil is a quick fix for it.

It's called a 'corporation'.

Yeah but a corp has limited rights and abilities compared to an alliance (standings, the ability to conquer stations, etc).

Corporations are limited in features. You must be in an alliance to claim space for example. Stupid, I know, but CCP seem to want it this way.
So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong and to strike at what is weak. |

1. Its stupid.
2. The ladder works this way: Individual -> Corporation -> Alliance
3. I'm not opposed to corporations claiming space and I can understand why smaller alliances would be created with this in mind. BUT... How many of these small 50 man alliances are actually claiming space? All they want is a cool name, "We are in the United Earth Front Alliance (UEFA), we dont claim anyspace and we intend to stay in Domain for the rest of our lives".
And as stated in a post in General Discussion it takes away the meaning of alliances. The earlier alliances (prior to the alliance function) Xetic, Curse Alliance, Stain Alliance meant something, they had a funtion, a purpose.
Currently all we see is pointless alliances pop up everywhere, no offence to the alliance creators but doing it just because you can.... I dont see the point.
I'm in the "Make alliances matter party" (M.A.M.P)...
This is my point of view.

Here's a reason to start a 1 corp alliance;
Corp:> Hi KOS, Hi ISS, how you guys doing? Can we swap standings? KOS, ISS:> Sure thing! There you go, standing set! Corp:> Oh ok, let's just add you guys.. oh, no alliance standing option? No problem I'll just add your corps.. How many is there? KOS:> 53 Corp:> :o ISS:> 91 Corp:> Holy ****! KOS, ISS:> Oh yeah, every time we get a new member or someone leaves - you gotta change the standing off your own back, we won't let you know. Corp:> **** this.
Due to mechanics it helps everyone to use the mechanics option. So until CCP gives corps suitable mechanics, I'm all for lots of alliances. Simplifies things on all accounts.

Edit: because I kept saying "mechanics"
Precisely, though I still can't figure out why the empire carebear corps need an alliance. It's not like they really have to fuss with standings.
