I sorry to say this but spaming gang invites to every hostile in the system every min is allowed by ccp and if you carrier owner is that daft to take a random gang invite then not press stop then its his fault. Saying that i hate the mass gang invite spam some alliances like to do and mass convs but you just have to add them to block as its only normaly a few players.

I'm honestly not aware of any mass spamming of invites by goonswarm, and certainly not as an official policy. My guess is this was a game played against one or more capital ship pilots just to see what would happen.

1) It's not a new thing, this tactic (albeit not with carriers) has been around for a very long time, 2) You're an alt, we know which alliance you're from so you really should stop it. -----------------------------------------------

signed,
that tactic was already used in the war vs F-E and 5, so nothing new there. Its a bit lame, but its no exploit, so people are allowed to do it.

Originally by: Stamm I can confirm that Goonfleets main tactic is to put up a single POS in a hostile system, and then try and invite people to gang.
It's how they got sov in XZH, and how they've managed to hold on to Syndicate for so long.
What people don't know is that Goonwaffe, their industrial corp, is funded by buying shuttles in Empire and putting them back on sale at 9001 ISK.
They do have another tactic, but it's a secret one and they keep the people doing it noob corps. They start a character, transfer the 5000 ISK to Remedial, and put the character into the biomass recycler. They're able to do this 3 times every 12 hours, or 6 times per day. With 100 goons doing this non-stop they generate the 300K ISK per day which funds their capital ship program.

ANy Carrier pilot that falls for summin like that, is an idiot and deserves everything he got.
Its not like a carrier insta aligns n warps. And when you enter then gang and you dont recognise anyones name surely you show info a few peeps.
Yes its a lame tacic, but it was probably just a bit of fun to see if the carrier pilot really could be SO STUPID.
Get a grip.
you may have misread my last comment. by "stealing focus" im talking about how the gang window becomes the active window in the eve client, stealing focus from the chat window for keypress events and assigning them to the gang request window.
sure he stopped it so he had was watching what he was doing, good on him. but i think ccp need to stop gang requests from stealing focus in the eve client. that way I can shut up and call the idiot a fool for accepting a gang window without checking who it was.

Even that wouldn't be so bad if they just switched the default "enter" response to reject instead of accept.

Hmm. That's highly entertaining because I remember JUST yesterday, I was in QYZM turning down multiple gang invites from a few D2 members. Coincidence? I think not.

dont know why some d2 member post this in corporation and alliance board because i send a alliance mail about this to stop d2 members to use those tactics not to blame goons for it.
goons telled me that d2 members used those tactics before and i dont like this so there was no need to make a thread about it goons already sayed that they dont like it and i think they wont use it anymore. if any d2 member do this to you send me a mail ingame and stop making threads about it

All this won't be a problem at all for the serious and mature pilot...
Gang invites might be a problem sometimes - but you are responsible for what you do in this situation all alone. It even must not be a hostile invite
Lemme give you the OP an example:
Yesterday I asked for a gang invite in my alliance channel. Logged in a few minutes ago I did not know the exact situation - but was on my way to the usual meeting location. It took some time for my mates to invite me on my way and when I finally got the gang invite popping up I was on my way warping to the next stargate and dropping out of warp directly into a hostile gate camp...
Okies, I did *NOT* accept the invite - but declining it immediately and jumped through the gate (camp), immediately warping to a SS, where I had the time to let my mates know what happened and why I rejected the invitation. Sure - I got a new one
What do we learn about this?
You are responsible for your own safety - even when it comes to gang invites - not making any difference who invites you. Always check the whole situation: Who invites you? Can you accept in your current situation? And so on...
Some ppl have the tendencies to make other ppl responsible for their own failures. That's annoying!

Ok, Actually, I have to give it to the goons, Thats ingenious, And i'd use the same tatic if I could get away with it!
The objective is to win the war, How you do it is up to you. If your pilots are not paying attention, and simply accept a gang invite without knowing who it is from, then yea, You deserve to have a carrier BBQd by a POS.
Oh the fireworks must have been awesome.....

Quote: invite a carrier to a gang, if the carrier pilot accepts, the goon will then start a gang warp to one of their pos's/fleets.
ROFL! if they managed to pull that off the guy in the carrier is not very bright and probably bought his account.
how can you be in a capital ship and not know that you can cancel warp?
ok nm i didnt read all the thread before i posted
still i dont see anything wrong with it aslong as they arent spamming invites, if its just the one time whats wrong? its beeing smart

Apparently any time Goonfleet does something, it's reported as being an underhand tactic/cheat/exploit repeatedly employed by goonfleet members even if it is only done a few times. And yes, I can attest to recieving several gang invites from D2 & friends during my stay in xzh.
Quote:
These kind of tactics are disgusting to see and i honestly think if Remedial had any honour he would remove that member from the corp - but after several mails he will not.
I can only imagine the mail. "Dear Remedial. Today, one of your pilots sent a gang invite to one of our pilots. Please remove that pilot from your corporation and alliance, because that is mean. If you do not remove this pilot, it means you have no honor and you smell like rotten cheese. Thank you."

It's not like a carrier is real quick to align for warp, either.
If you're stupid enough to accept gang form someone you don't know, you could still cancel your warp easy enough.

If you're the kinda person who accepts random gang invites, I'd bet even a carrier aligns faster than you can stop it. What with the tapioca pudding where your brain should be.

Edited by: Atara Thalia on 19/07/2006 17:35:00 I assure you, this was a total misunderstanding. We were having a party and were just trying to be friendly and give you an invite. It was a good party. There was tea and cake and exotic dancers. Remedial and all the other goonfleet directors were suppose to be there, but they just stayed in the backroom with the Mindflood all night. The highlight of the party was when they gave away door prizes. There was lots of nice Tech II gear given out but noone in goonfleet knows what to do with it.
