OP; Send a petition, tell them you accidentally blew up the mission objective when you hit the button for guns instead of tractor, they will reset your mission and you can do it over again, and this time scoop your loot.
You win, mission objective thief loses.
Lying in a petition and risk whatever CCP would do doesn't seem worth it to complete a mission...
These people are annoying but if you stay away from main mission hubs they can be avoided for the most part. If it's someone looting in a faction ship get some friends in a fleet. They turn suspect so they're free for anyone in the system to kill. You can probably post a fleet invite in local once you have it pointed and people will join to get in on the kill.

Mr Chili Palmer wrote:if she stole the mission objective from the op after he had destroyed the rat would that not make her a criminal / suspect and allow you to agress? or did she jump into the mission and kill the rat herself making it her loot?
Often they steal the loot making them suspect but this doesn't give them a criminal flag. Yes you're free to engage but doing so in a mission ship would be extremely foolish. If you know that person is in system it wouldn't be too hard to set up a trap |

If it's a new pilot it's probably to make some easy ISK since basic scanning is fast to train. If it's an older pilot it's likely about trying to get a PVP engagement with a mission ship that's foolish enough to engage. Also either one could be a scout for a suicide gank.
If I know a mission item is about to drop I will be right on top of it at the time of spawning just in case someone does come in. If someone arrives in my mission I just warp out. This gives me an excuse to take a short break from the game. They'll likely get bored then move on to harassing someone else.
Eve is a PVP based game so everything you do has a PVP aspect. If you pick your fights and have a basic knowledge of the game mechanics it cam be very enjoyable. |

If you pick your fights and have a basic knowledge of the game mechanics it cam be very enjoyable. it is an older player that mainly flys gila and proteus. I do not have the skills to fight them since I am mainly skilled into a rattlesnake and logi ships both not suited to fighting t3 or pirate cruisers. They warped into the second room of worlds collide as I was finishing it. When I saw them I scooped mtu, took loot I could carry, and warped out. I logged off for 3 hours. When I came back they were in a scanning ship in the first accel gate waiting for me I guess. They reshipped into gila and followed through the gates. In the last room they had already cleared it and stolen the cargo. They sent me a convo offering to sell it back for 20m. I don't mind loot being stolen or my MTU getting destroyed sometimes. I do mind stealing cargo needed to complete missions. I just quit the mission and took a small standing loss. From reading the comments i gathered that missions not flagged as complete reset after downtime. If this happens again will just wait for mission to reset and use another agent for the rest of the time.
Yea it looks like they completed the mission for you and stole the loot. I'm not sure if someone else doing your mission makes it complete but I guess it would.
NEVER engage a mission looter in a PVE ship. You will lose it unless they're terribad. It's not worth risking a mission ship to find out.
Not much you can do for those types. If you see they're about to do it just fail the mission. If you get this issue in your mission system a lot consider finding a new system. The agent finder makes it very easy. |

And yes, you can trigger another person's mission objective. Racing in a frigate to the trigger point in Recon 2 like a crazed spider monkey while the big old battleship slowboats.... always entertaining. What happens next is what's interesting. Technically at this point a mission runner can simply dock up and complete mission. The real conflict occurs when all those red crosses show up, just begging to be killed for bounty and loot.
I wouldn't care if someone did that for me in Recon. I always just blitz that one.

Is it against the EULA? I thought lying was an acceptable part of the gameplay.
I'm not sure if lying in a petition is against the EULA but I'm sure it wouldn't make CCP happy. I'm sure lying is a perfectly acceptable part of gameplay but I don't think the petitions are part of gameplay.
