First let me say that I am not trying to cause trouble for SOMER. In fact, creating a forum post about the site is likely to send it some business, no such thing as bad advertising yadiyada.
Anyway, Blink's latest offer is that if you're purchased a timecode through their affiliate system you get a credit. You can then use that credit to sell a plex to Somer at an inflated price. To me, which ever way you gloss that up it's swapping isk for real-life cash. It's not a direct swap, but it's a form of laundering.
Blink has it's fans and it's critics, there are no doubt that they do great things and bad things for the game. But I'd be interested to hear CCP's opinion on this. I imagine that they were consulted in this decision. Would your average joe be treated the same way for laundering isk into real life cash?
I'm no trade expert but I imagine that this is also going to push the price of plex further skywards.
I'm open to corrections on all points, they are all just thoughts and queries. |

I take it that this has already been mentioned? I rarely use the forums and a search yielded no results for this so I started a thread. Maybe a thread should be left for purpose of people searching? |

How do you give Somer real life cash?
They have an arangement with Markee Dragan (?sp) as far as I know, but that's a normal business arrangement as any other business can enter into, and that's solely for out of game activities (sending buyers to Markee Dragan).
Other then that, they are buying PLEX for ISK, just as you can do in game.
You really are just trying to stir up trouble as there is nothing wrong with PLEX -> ISK transfers. Happens all the time and no real money is involved.

That was when they were directly rewarding people that bought through their program with Blink credit. They were asked to stop, which they did. This is their new way around it which launched in the last day or two. |

Basically what they are doing is if you give them real life money (buy gtc from them) they will send you free isk (using a work around method offering to buy plex from you at in inflated price)
But it is what it is, you give them money, they give you isk. They've tried to disguise it but it doesn't change the fact that it's the same as RMTing. |

Just send in a petition to report suspected RMT activities and see where it goes. Knowing SOMER they are again trying to be smart about things by using convoluted technicalities and CCP will be slow to catch up if they even decide to do anything.

We're most likely talking 4-figure US$/month in lost revenue when CCP stopped it.

Yes. It would have been tough for them, I imagine they pay a pretty penny for the server costs. But that's their choice, rules are rules. I imagine you have a fair cost for your own servers too, Chribba. |

Not sure if sarcasm but yes I do believe they just as me pay for server costs. However it's very unlikely that they are more than the number they earn (someone once said 5k+/month from MD affiliate, expensive hosting if so).
However can definitely say that earning money from whatever site/service you do, is a big driving force, including myself.
So I can only imagine myself if I were making that number per month that I would want to keep that if I could. Toying with the number of 5k if that's real, that's a pretty damn decent monthly pay (at least here in Sweden) for something you don't need (most likely anyway) to spend 8 hours/day on.

Yes you are correct. I spend some of my time away from the game and full-time job running a betting affiliate site, as I too have server costs for my line of work.. People pay incredible amount of money for you to bring them customers. |

It's one thing to buy a PLEX and put it on the EVE market for One Billion ISK and hope that someone buys it.
It's quite another for Alice and Bob to agree/collude/enter_into_a_business_deal ahead of time for Alice to buy Bob's PLEX for 24.99 USD (which is $5 USD over standard price) and for Bob to agree to buy that PLEX back for One Billion ISK.

The OP is asking the wrong question. Of course SOMER is RMTing. PLEX by definition is an RMT commodity. What the question should be is: Is SOMER RMTing EULAgally or not?
