And how exactly will they be able to find the ships from any mission exept worlds collide? Also, I would imagine salvaging your wrecks will get the same result as stealing from your cans, aka a 15 min flag where you can kill them should you be so inclined.

I believe only player ships will be salvagable. Could be wrong though.

According to E-ON (Real life Eve magazine) wrecks will spawn like containers do now. This in my mind implies that they will replace? or at least be functioning the same way as cans do now.
They will this is stated very clearly spawn both for player and NPC ships. Most likely a special module or ship is needed to extract the goodies. Of course there will still be modules and stuff to pick up from these wrecks but the best stuff can only be got with this module or ship.
------------------------------------------- Should you disagree with me, well I guess that is because I disagree with you. If you have a problem with that please feel free not to tell me. |

Some Dev Blog Excerpts:
>>>>>>>>>> TodayÆs topic is Salvaging 101. First off, like the other mini-professions, Salvaging requires a skill and a module, that you need to fit to your ship. The pre-requisite for the Salvaging skill is Mechanic 5, for those of you interested in participating. In Kali all ships (player and NPC) will spawn wrecks upon destruction. This will replace the loot can. Anyone can access the wreck for the basic loot, same as with the loot cans. However, those equipped with a Salvaging module can then try to salvage stuff from the wreck.
The stuff in question is ingredients to construct Rigs. A Rig is a new addition to the game, which allows players to modify the performance of their ship by adding Rigs to it. I will cover the ins and outs of Rigs at a later date, all you need to know now is that the ingredients needed to build Rigs are only available by salvaging wrecks. The fun part is that the ingredients for the best Rigs (Tech II) are hard to come by from NPC wrecks, meaning the best way to get them is by blowing up a player in a Tech II ship. And as you know the only thing more fun than blowing up other players is having a reason to do so. Indiscriminating killing is so yesterday.

For some reason, I don't think it'll be too much work to destroy 1 salvager after taking out 5 battleships, unless you're out of ammo.

There's not a single problem at all here. EVE has never really been solo player friendly. You will still be able to pull things out of both pc, and npc wrecks. All this new skill means is less ransoms by pirates, and a new ship that will be commonly found with any ratting group, or gank squad especially. Player Recruitment

It's exactly the same scenario as currently exists with cans. If that guy is stealing your loot, blow him up.

That's if his scavenging your wrecks causes a criminal flagging. I've seen no information from CCP to suggest that this is the case.
To be clear, the bloke is scavenging the wreck for the rig components, after you've taken the loot from it as normal. If the procedure is like scooping unanchored secure cans, then he doesn't become flagged to you.

The module should be able to be fit to the various ships so no dedicated ship is needed unless there is some benefit to using multible modules. Also, where will this leave tractor beams? No more cans means no more use for a tractor beam. Also, I would expect those with the T2 bpo's to have a huge advantage here as all they need to do is build the T2 ship, blow it up, salvage rig components. Sell at extremely inflated prices. Rinse and repeat. How will that help seeing as how T2 ships arent really all that common in pvp now? Those it does open up a very profitable secondary market for those who are already making a killing on their T2 bpo's. I can also see mission runners replacing their loot hauler with a salave craft of appropriate size. No big change there seeing as how noone else will have access to their deadspace missions but the person doin the mission and those they choose to share with. I guess another question would be is how long before the 'wreck' disappears? 15 min? 30 min? An Hour? And how long does it take to salvage a craft? Will it be like hacking in that it takes 15 min a wreck like hacking cans? Anyway....
