During downtime today a small change was made to escrow logging to help the GMs do their jobs better. Unfortunately a bug slipped in that allowed nefarious players to ôwinö EVE. The bug has been fixed and the winners through a bit of database magic have been turned into losers. We deeply regret any setbacks in your plans for world domination that may have been cause by this most heinous emergency downtime.

All I am at liberty to say is that it was an exploit involving the escrow system. (And by the way the new contract system coming in Kali 1 kicks ass)

To those that are asking about the exploit, it is only in rare instances where CCP has mentioned the type of exploit or hinted at how to go about it. This is not one of those rare instances where we are going to give out details. Sometimes, acknowledging there is a bug in a certain area of the game code is enough to give exploiters a hint of how to take advantage of the bug.
Suffice it to say the bug was severe enough for us to take the server down for a short time in an effort to fix the issue and take care of the exploiters.
I apologize if you want more information, but it is not going to be forthcoming. When TQ comes back, all will have been resolved and dealt with.

Please keep this in mind before hitting the post reply button, discussing an exploit, including steps to duplicate it or what it might be, is a bad idea. If CCP is not going to discuss what it is, do you really think it is a good idea to do it on your own?

I've got a message sent in to the server team, they are investigating the connection issue.

Originally by: Maximillian Dragonard hrm...... just occured to me that it "has" to be a TQ issue.. I'm able to connect to the test server with no prob.
Of course, this assumes the two are close geographically, which I assume they are.
About as close as Iceland is to the UK. The test servers (Chaos, Singularity) are hosted in Reykjavik at the home office, Tranquility is hosted in a data center somewhere in London. The IT team is continuing to look into the connectivity issue, but at this point in time there do not appear to be any node issues that would prevent players from logging in.
