Because I really dont understand why someone would kill me just for the kill... I dont have anything good in my ship and I've been playing for all of like 3 weeks.
Isnt being a pirate all about going after profitable loot? Surely if I succumb to your guns in about 10 seconds then its like stepping on a roach, what do you really gain from my death except yet another person who will get you later? Is there any sense of accomplishment from doing this?

Wow I havenĘt heard about the implant removal, is that a part of the Salvage feature being added?
Also I'm not sure if I came off sounding like I'm complaining, just curious about people's attitudes on the subject. I'm not really mad or anything, I had no implants, got my insurance, I'll have more losses and victories later...

Well ignoring that there are millions of posts about this already, I guess it's because...i'm an ******* ingame.
I'd give you some deep psychologicall justification but truth of the matter is, i'm playing a game and I find it fun being an ass, so I am an ass.
Dislike it? Eve ---> WoW that way

There is a technical code of honor between pirates, but really there is no fixed rules or laws...
Basically, Honor your ransoms or become a target to every "honorable" pirate corp. Also honor duels, but if you don't it's not going to bring down fire and fury like a fake ransom. Other than that, it's NBSI. Newbs don't get off easy - heck, I've transported very expensive mods in a velator.

I have a few things to say here. Unlike my fellow pirates, I try not to pod. However, if you talk ****, OR if you are dumb and just stick around in your pod after I blast you, then I may pod you, just so in the future, you act civil and don't stick around after a pirate kills you.
As to your first point, I've only been playing for three weeks myself. Having said that, I feel no obligation to not shoot you. You were warned, many times, by the game not to go into low sec if you didn't want the risk. If you come to my home systems, then you should be prepared to pvp. There is no free pass for new players. Additionally, like another poster said, there is NO way of telling if you are going to have good stuff or not. Occasionally, I get 2 week old players (obviouslly someones alt) with tier two gear that I can equip my ship with. Besides, my corp or myself may have some use for your tier one stuff too. Don't forget we are confined to low sec and can't easily get gear for our ships in those big 1.0 market systems.

Double post ftl Ryoko?
Anyway...we pod because it takes you out of local. Or maybe we would ransom your pod, even if you haven't got implants, 10 jumps and a new clone might be enough to persuade someone to pay a bit.
And yeah some of us just like the squishing sound or want another corpse to put in our hangar. Or closet. We won't go any farther there
You could be a spy as far as we know so we must eliminate you. Nuff said, it's nothin personal. ___________________________________________

Thank you all for your opinions... hopefully pirate actions dont discourage other new players from continuing the game.
I like Eve a lot, so I'm sticking around because I think the danger of attack adds a lot to the fun and gameplay.

Noobs need to learn early on that eve is a dangerous place. No better opportunity to help out a new player than to pod him a few times if he's dumb enough to ignore all the warnings eve gives new players. Education is priceless. Pirates are providing a brilliant and gracious service by podding every noob they find.

who honestly would give up 2 mid slots for those mods when you could fit 2 20km scrams?

Edited by: Mintless on 22/07/2006 07:22:21 I am not heavily into pirating yet (I am just a pirate groupie atm, since all my friends playing this are pirates). Although in every game i've played i've been a ruthless uncaring ganker (even the bad kinds who kill and camp people who can't fight back! :( I am a bad person), so I think I can explain it.
Because we [Pirates] can. Because you get kill mails. Because you can get peoples bodies. Because fitting ship and cargo scanners takes up valuable slots.
:P

I received an evemail just last night from Karlemgne complaining that I had podded one of his corpmates and asking for an apology. He seems to believe I should follow his code in that pirates should not pod other fellow pirates. I have never known of such a code, yes an agreement could be reached - like a 'no shoot policy', as recently I entered into such an agreement with a fellow pirate who I share my home system with.
I regard all except my friends and those I enter into an agreement with as hostile and as such I pod kill where I can.

True story: My buddy ransomes this noob w/ a navy vexor for 200m in a deadspace complex. (ebay ftw) So, 30 min later we're goofing off and I'm shooting at him and as I have him locked, I do a double take on his bounty... 170k isk? Noooo... 17m isk? Noooo... 170M ISK!?!!! WTH!??!
So I look at it again. Sure as hell is. Implants I ask? Nope. *pod* I hand over his 170m. that's 370m in the space of 30-40 min. LOL.
And wth is up with ppl accusing me of putting on a 'self bounty'. Some morons slapped me w/ 55m+ of bounties now, and I'm a few months old, but come on, I'm not that lame as to put a self bounty on
