How's that for one of the possible T2 battleships (if ever)? _______________________________________________

There is already a Yamato gun. It is called the Titan's Doomsday device. ___________________

And Amarr that have a ship which cloaks every other gang ship within 30km, and half their fleets are en masse carriers who fire interceptors instead of fighters, and who like to mass sentries and nothing else.

Now that would be a badass gang module...cloak yourself and all targetted gang mates within 10km...would make a hell of a surprise to see a whole fleet uncloak...

Or better still, there should be an “Iowa Class Cannon”, seeing as the Yamato class 18.1in (460mm) cannons while being the biggest caliber mounted to a battleship, are actually not the most powerful.
That honor, to this day, remains in the sole hands of the Iowa class (and South Dakota class) 16in cannons (406mm).
The reason being is that how big the shell is does not equal its power in any way. The benefit of the 16in cannons is that they fire a shell as heavy as the biggest the Yamato could, and the Iowa class even has shells that are heavier still than those of the Yamato. Beyond that, the Iowa class was not only capable of significantly further range (multiple miles) but also vastly superior accuracy by using ship-borne targeting calculators (very simple computers).
While the Yamato’s cannons where themselves tremendously capable weapons, they were never the most powerful ship borne cannons, which is ironic considering so many automatically presume them so.

Yamato guns punch larger holes, the masses care for nothing else.
Give us larger holes!

Nooo! Smaller holes, we want them to suffer and squirm as vaccuum creeps up on them (non-pod pilots)

Acctually a spinal-mount type of gun with massive freakin firepower would be awsome.
Also it kind of always bothered me that torpedos say "unguided" in their description, but clearly it's impossible to miss the target with them! Would be cool if there was some kind of slow powerful missile that is really a bomb or torpedo, and just fires straight forward and explodes if it gets within 2km of something, and has the detonation of a smartbomb... Now that I would seriously enjoy.

A better example would be the Seige cannon from Homeworld:Cataclysm. It fires a large projectile that blows up every ship within a 25km radius
Kind of like the titan only smaller

Edited by: Nianfur on 23/07/2006 10:26:58 Once again were talking about SpineGun ships, the mega super ship long gun that blows everything away but usually takes all your energy and possably reduced velocity to 0 when fired.
E.g. Battleship Yamamoto (Star Blazers) Super Dimension Fortress Macross (Robotech) Excalibur (Babylon5 - Crusades)
and allot of other misc. scifi shows. Basically its a very very very cool oversized battleship with lotsa small anti frig guns (or missiles) a couple of decent larger guns and one big bloody gun (a gun with 1 shot and your out of cap.)
Would it be a PvP fleet battle turner? Hell yes. Would it be fun to fly? Definately. Would it take a heap of skills? Most definately. Do I want one and should eve get it? 100% yes, its a classic scifi ship class that would do well in the eve world. its not a doomsday ship its not a relentless dread pummeling a station, its a one shot kills 3/4 of the shields on a carrier type ship. the sort that changes the tide of battle.
Cheer for big GUNS. Hooray!

Whilst that was quite interesting and informative, we're talking about the big battlecruisers in starcraft that had the decimating yamoto cannon...

Wave Motion Gun For the win! Knew I wasn't the only one thinking it. EvE is sorely lacking one. :) It could be a T2 anti-capship weapon that is heavily dependant on sig radius. Vs. cap ships they would be the prefered weapon, but could potentially one-shot a T1 BS if the blast was properly aimed (e.g. lots of target painting), but utterly useless vs. anything smaller. To balance, perhaps grant the victim ship a temporary reduction in effective sig radius, and target loss (ECM Burst)for the attackers due to...er...the massive interferce from the blast. Lower DPS vs. BS-sized targets than a standard gank setup, but the ultimate alpha-strike?
Would be nice to see what the devs would come up with...I imagine each race would have it's own flavor of super gun. Caldari would be easy: A super-charged, high-speed Citadel Torp. :D Maybe a shot-gun-like effect from a multi-barrel howizter that uses a hundred Fusion L. per volley?

As cool as real genuine ion cannons would be (not these wimpy ion blasters) I still think the Trinity cannons on the vaygr BC would do a better job punching holes in ships than the beams.
And the spinal missile launcher > ravens.
