Ditto, make it an optional download and optional setting for those who has more vram than 512MB to run this game with their hardware.
People nowdays have vram up to 2GB make use of it and let people have an option to get higher res nebulas and if possible textures. Tag shortcuts - Make an FC enjoy his position more! |

You need to just zoom in a bit to spot the low res. Or even try it at high resolution, it looks bad when running Eyefinity for example. Tag shortcuts - Make an FC enjoy his position more! |

Well i have it running at 1920 x 1200... i think having the option to turn it on or off would depend on how ingrained it is on the server side. If it's an arbitrary feature, then it shouldn't be hard to implement... edit: On the other hand, i think it would be a very bad idea to have a new feature than devs have been working hard on to implement suddenly be able to turn off. It's a new, fantasic feature that has a lot of backing from CCP. It's at the front and centre of this expansion. Down the road, it may get revised. Just my opinion :)
Well dont need a on/off switch just low med high. These are not serverside though otherwise you would need to download hell of data each time you jumped. This is client side and from what I speculate not hard to update or have an optional setting or download to have higher res. Tag shortcuts - Make an FC enjoy his position more! |

Nebulas are already very nice and detailed. Color depth is a problem yes but i dont think it has to do with low end computers. Color depth doesn't have that much impact on performance. And you might not, but some people are involved in large fleet battles and in that fight every fps counts, and the last thing you care is a high detail nebula eating your fps. I prefer having all brackets on than having a uber detailed nebula.... I dont understand what kind of more detailed nebulas you want. Those are already like real photos from telescopes. Some people even think they are too bright. Any more detail i dont think will add realism.
Besides super high detail graphics are not what makes a game good. Imo adding direction to stargates and the appearance of nearby stars on background are way way way better and more realistic than high detail super nebulas. I can even live with old nebulas and have this new star system change.
No one is forcing you guys or other guys with lower or mid range computers to have everything on and on high settings. This is why people ask for options. An easy drop-down list (off, low , medium, high) or something less complex (off, low, high) meaning no compression or almost none when running high.
If this is a matter of client size, well let it be an optional download on the website that until you install it there will be no high setting or it will be greyed out.
And also since this is a compression issue not that higher settings don't exist I don't really see an issue.
Options instead of forcing people..... Tag shortcuts - Make an FC enjoy his position more! |
